A team is only as strong as it's bottom ended players, and today we were reminded just how good Angus and a few others were. Not too mention the injuries that were sustained during the game.

I am being completely serious when I say I don't think I can follow the Tigers which sucks because I love football in general. I started feeling this way when the news about Martin and Connors came through, I can just see him turning into a junkie and going completely off the rails, Cotchin and Lids should move to another club where they get reward for effort. I am not angry, just have come to the realisation that I am better off without this crap so if a mod could please delete my account it would be appreciated as I cannot find the option to delete my own.

What an absolute crock of shit. Any top side would of milked it with free players available and 90 seconds on the clock. They certainly wouldn't of kicked it in the middle of the ground and risk turnovers.

It's not a crock at all, when not taking the game on we have looked terrible in recent weeks, and as it again proved, we are no good, with the current side , at playing safe football. We had the momentum and handed that momentum directly back to GC.

I loved, love and will continue to love our club.

Some of the comments on here tonight are a little like 'my child screwed up - I'm going to give up on it'!

The first thing many forget is that, to outsiders, however our team might be, our fans are more laughable. You guys have proved them thoroughly correct. Bravo for you.

Realistically even if we made finals this year we would have only been making up numbers
I think that the bigger issue is that if we did not sell this game we would play the the MCG and probably win by 10 goals
I don't think the current administration is to blame as they are doing a great job of resurecting the club, but past issues mean they have had to make some seriously tough decisions for the long term strength of the club.
This is not an excuse but the importance of some of the listed players can not be underestimated.

Mods please don't delete this thread, as although it's partially about this loss to GC, I want to discuss the broader issues for the rest of 2012 as well.

After this game, it is clear that our depth was pushed too far this week. Although Gold Coast ARE one of the worst teams in the competition, it wasn't so long ago that WE were by far the worst team in the competition, and unfortunately the dregs of that start coming to the surface when we have too many injuries.

I hate sniping players, especially after a bad loss, but the simple fact is that Angus Graham and Tom Derickx cannot be seleted again in 2012. Don't care if Derickx is a 2nd gamer, he isn't good enough. And Graham has been on the list since 2005, we KNOW he's not good enough.

We need to chase one more KPD, and we also need another mobile ruckman/forward apart from Vickery. I. Maric is good enough to beat most ruckman, but when he's out, we NEED somebody who can step in and at least break even. Neither Angus nor Tom can do this.

This is not the same team that beat Hawthorn by 10 goals a few months back, today we were the Richmond of 09/10, with Deledio/Cotchin/Riewoldt/Nahas the only ones to be able to hold their heads high, and with our bottom 5 players out on the field playing VFL Reserves standard.

Everyone still happy Hardwick got the extension? Looks like he'll have had 3 years - and still no finals. I'm not sure what he's really done that Wallace wasn't doing.

We lead the league in uncontested possessions. We look backwards for our first option far too often. We 'spread wide' and run into space. we dominated possessions today. Great. Except when we get caught on the rebound and have no defenders in position. Our forward play is abysmal - we had 10 more inside 50s. We know how crap we are at scoring.

There has to be some pressure applied to the coach and his staff - basically we are still going nowhere. A good performance here or there - several 'honorable losses' - and lots of rubbish. I'm not saying 'Sack!' - but there has to be an examination of how our game plan and development is going. Because the results are not showing much.

Got no problem with it, deserved the extention given where he has taken us from.

Tonight he was coaching with his hands tied. Missing Maric Grimes Martin Jackson King & Foley from our best side. Add those players back into the side and we win unfortunately we didn't have them available and were exposed for the lack of depth because of it.

At least now there are no more illusions as to where we sit in the overall scheme of things. At full strength we're good enough to match it with most sides. Get hit with injury and suspension and we fall away very quickly. Given we're only 2.5 years into Hardwicks tenure not sure we should be expecting any more.

Like most others I am completely gutted, just numb. Still trying to figure out how it's even possible to lose when 10 points up against the worst side in the League with ball safely in hand and 45 seconds on the clock. Ffs just clog up the wing and pump it long to the boundary.

Absolutely devastated, don't blame the club for selling the games, in the end a completely pissweak effort, and I mean really pissweak effort in the first half cost us. Must have seen close to 200 separate fumbles today. Complete and utter shambles. Even if we had won it would only have been because GC were somehow worse than us. Cotch, lids and Jack excepted

GC have a stronger losing culture than us. We just had an exceptionally poor 180 seconds.

As much as we wish we're ready we're not. We learnt that today and now the rest of the season we'll see how we compete. Will be interesting to see how we go against North.

Yes we and the coaches will be able to see how much heart this group has from here on in, and those who don't will be shown the door. We are still a year or 2 off being a strong finals contender. Still look at the Blues. Rats has coached over a 100 Dimma's just over 60 games. Interesting to see where RFC will be at Dimma's 100 .

I'm physically and emotionally drained, I've never been so shattered as a supporter. I usually like to look for the positives but there is nothing positive about this result. I really hope the club takes a real hard look at itself, there were only 8 players out there tonight who deserve a pass mark as AFL footballers, the rest aren't up to it and it's the same blokes every week who when the pressure is put on they go missing and until they are are replaced we will never go anywhere

Trent Cotchin is a superstar.

Brett Deledio had an ordinary game imo. Didn't play on enough like he normally does.

I'm actually already over it, looking ahead to next week. Not gonna bother analysing where it really went wrong, because a lot of those players will be out the door at year's end anyway. Looking forward to having our best 22 back out there.
