Surely not. Danger and Sloane are born to lead this club.

For the record I don't think Sando was leaning one way or the other on 5AA tonight. I think he is open to change...

I believe this will be a critical test for Sando and the whole AFC.

We can make the safe choice and maintain mediocrity or we can make the best choice and maximise our chance of improvement. I'm guessing option A.

Expect to see VB as captain in 2014.

Heard on the grape vine the Crows are not even going to consider a captaincy change.
Have been saying as much all year, only to be shouted down by the populist masses for being a heretic.

As a player, VB Is far from the greatest the club has ever had. As a leader though, he is in the top 2 or 3 in the club's history.

He will be Captain again in 2014 (not Captain of the reserves as his detractors might wish) and probably again in 2015 & 2016.

VB is an exceptional leader. Selecting him as Captain confirms the club's ongoing rewarding of excellence. It certainly doesn't imply mediocrity.

That said, the club does have some very mediocre "supporters".

Your opinion has been shouted down yes but most of us expect him to remain.

I'm expecting it but god save the club of they aren't grooming one of Danger or Sloane to take over the year after.

I never said that vB was a poor captain, I just believe Patty would be an outstanding captain.

There must be many poorly informed players and coaches in the AFL given the low rating of vB amongst his peers.

How did Kevin Sheedy rate him? Somewhat lower than the all knowing Vader?

Clearly leadership is like player development in the SANFL. Best judged by those on the other side of the country from snippets on the tele or fourth hand opinions.

Vader it all comes down to how you define leader and what are the expectations

I have no doubt that VB sets a high professional standard in his training, preparation and rehab however game day de drops off completely especially when the game is in the balance and screams out for leadership

By Sando's own admission he did day that it is unacceptable for your Capt to finish 16th in your clubs B&F, this alone suggest that VB is not ticking all the boxes

Who cares what former afl coaches rate our players?

What's this low rating by his peers?

VB seems to be doing the job they want. He is obviously playing the role as they want him to play.

Check the AFLPA voting on best captain in the AFL. Not a definitive measure but vB's outstanding leadership is never acknowledged outside of the AFC.

A simpler measure is to watch all the Crows matches. For every captain's goal there have been three times as many captain's clangers at critical times.

vB is a fantastic guy and an outstanding ambassador of the club but when was the last time he inspired us to victory?

I just looked at the last few years of the Aflpa best captain winner.

Sam Mitchell and Luke Hodge never won it. Does that mean they are bad captains?

When captains' have to vote for 1 option, it doesn't make you last if you aren't chosen.

Last year, Damien Barrett rated vb as the 11th best captain, ahead of J brown.

bit harsh the way we treat reilly. you don't fluke 12 years of footy.

If our state government and the AFC CEO can fluke nearly 12 years at the top, I see no reason why a footballer can't.

Your uncanny ability to foresee our ongoing mediocrity is a talent which is probably held in high esteem somewere in a galaxy far, far away. Congratulations on being the outspoken poster boy of more of the same going nowhere lame shit pls sir

What a load of horse shit. We've only had 6 captains and vB is comfortably in the bottom 2 duelling it out with Tony McGuinness for the spoon. Top two... lol, better than Bicks or Roo... Some of the shit you talk.

Vades, mate, when you put the hash pipe down can you give us an example of the exemplary leadership he has apparently displayed? I must have missed it all, what with him going missing all the time
