Ah dang, didn't know about them. Makes things more interesting when it comes to list make up then. Gillett is the one that will be hard to replace, which is why I hope we snag a tall forward with one of our later picks, like Northam or Foster

Gillett didn't play VFL and I don't even think he trained passed pre-season with Geelong. There is plenty of local products that I'm sure can fill the void in the VFL team.

McLachlan has moved to Western Australia. I doubt Abbott and Gillett will be returning to the list as well.

Abbott at his age i think is keen to step away from vfl for family reasons.

No way Gillett makes it to an AFL list but Update on Gillett, I believe he is injured and will miss a fair chunk of pre-season.

2. Surely he could write his own ticket in a local or bush league somewhere?

It's not about the money for a lot of the younger players, its all about playing at the highest level they can. That's the VFL at this stage.

Mark Corrigan is a big in but the loss of Geelong's two captains to interstate clubs will be a solid hit. You would expect Riccardi and Clohesy to continue to play VFL with us but they have been elevated to the AFL list.

Ham would be good i think vfl is his ceiling but at that level hes a decent player.

I suspect abbott will retire to local footy. We might want a ruck in case conway starts getting some games in the 1s. So if waddell doesnt stay we might look at a ruck.

Mentha has signed for the Eastern Swans in Mackay, but Shane O'Bree clearly wasn't too keen on him in 2022. Unsure about Fiore and Waddell at this stage but Fiore will need to get their injury problems sorted.

I thought he might go north. Thats disappointing as i rated him at the dolphins but understandable hed go when the coach doesnt want him.
I think fiore has a lot of potential i do agree durability is a real issue with him but if he can put the work in pre habbing his body he could be a good player at vfl level.

From what you read it might be that they play Phoenix down back in VFL this year. That would make sense for the team being a big difference from last year with Sav and Phoenix given the height.

He played ruck and forward in juniors but I don’t think a bad thing to start back and see what happens. If you think about a 3 year development for someone at that height, another KPD would be handy in that time frame to join SDK.

Lets hope he does better than Neale when he went back, he would have been off our list if he stayed back

If we Have a fully fit list at times this year there will no doubt be plenty of healthy debate in the VFL thread this year, with many players vying for a spot in the ones, leaving more than a few fan favs spending time in the twos that will upset some.

Thats so sad. Honestly i think he would have been a good chance of being a vfl regular with us this year. Hopefully he can make it back in 2024.
