The broadcast revenue generated by the AFL relies upon 9 games a week spread over 5 states.
As I've stated earlier, if the fans clubs still exist then they'll get tv eye balls, for example if wc was only playing the wafl then wc fans won't be watching any other league. TV ratings wouldn't (or shouldn't) diminish, they'll just shift and broadcasters will be bidding for those eyeballs.
Would you be open to solutions to make the game better?
Depends on the solutions, if it's not at the detriment of the foundation clubs or their fans then of course yes.

Here's mine.

A governing body overseeing the game as a whole, like the AFL are supposed to do

-A conference model, one conference being the vic clubs, essentially the vfl again.
-The other conferences being either the other state leagues or the current expansion non vic clubs, whichever garners the most public interest outside of vic
-A playoff of the conference champions

What are yours?
IMO most fans don't hate the league
Not most, but i'm sure you've seen some posts on here that display conspiracy theories / hate.
They just putting ideas forward to make the league better.
Yeah but those ideas are at the detriment of foundation clubs and their fans.

It's well documented about the shaky grounds of both leagues at the time, none the less the wafl is still here and is a bloody good footy league, it's a great standard of footy.

But the point of 'we saved your vfl', well ok both leagues saved each other, none the less the wafc sought and bought a licence to field a club to expand the vfl, the wa fans didn't like it at the time, yet they still jumped ship, why? I know why and no wa fan will admit that why.

They hated the vlf then and hate the vafl now, why? I know why and no wa fan will admit that why.

So the argument that 'we saved your vfl' is not because the vfl was unviable, it was because the vfl clubs were in a $ war to win flags, as pointed out by sr36 earlier in the thread.

So again to all you non vic fans, if you really hate the league so much then vote with your feet and remotes, but you won't, why? We all know why.
There are pages after pages, posted on BF, that tell a different story.
The VFL were broke , live with it.

Yes they were broke not unviable.

-Even though broke, the vfl was chosen as the expansion model, something you all complain about
-Even given you all complained about the vfl pre expansion, you're all still complaining about it now.

As you put it, 'live with it'

Would you care to tell us why you all dumped your wafl teams like a toxic ex for a brand new club with zero history in a league that you all complained about before the wafc sought and bought a competition licence to compete in it?

The solution is simple really, the two most travelled clubs travel less.
Let's start with them travelling the same amount as your club and leave the state say, 6 times? Is that a good start.

Don't change the subject. That is just moving goalposts to confuse an issue.
Same as travel.

And how would you achieve that without detriment to the foundation clubs?

I mean most of it can’t be changed but to deny there isn’t Vicbias is crazy.
It's bias as a by product of A/ the expansion of an original league and B/ The fact that the biggest footy market is vic.

It's not a deliberate conspiracy as some would have you believe.

Killing uncompetitive, financially stricken clubs isn’t drastic, it’s capitalism
But they're not financially stricken. And you'd lose a chunk of your market and have a lot less product to sell. It doesn't make financial sense. It doesn't make ethical sense. Nor would it actually change the travel dynamic very much at all - unless you're talking about killing 5+ of them.

Interestingly, geography appears to effect other sporting competitions not just the WA teams. There's not really much you can do - whether they try one or 2 'road trips' a year- ie back to back east coast games and staying over, followed by 2-3 consecutive home games to counter it.

Otherwise 'live with it'

Actually a lot of their supporters abandoned the game, some followed Brisbane because they had no choice. The difference is that wa supporters had no real reason to dump their wafl clubs, where as Fitzroy was exited from their league.

As they were complaining about the vfl attracting players, coaches, staff etc pre vfl expansion, then why follow this new club with zero history in a league that they complained about? What's wrong with your wafl club?

As they complain about the league now, why are they still following their new (figuratively speaking) franchise clubs now?

That's not the only reason, regardless, players leaving the wafl for the vfl wasn't an all of a sudden thing, had been happening a long long time before expansion and rebranding.

So why all of a sudden when this new, no history club comes along does the whole wa footy public drop their wafl clubs like a toxic ex?
You call it abandoning the game, I call it abandoning Fitzroy. No excuses.

No, the exodus of WAFL players was far greater when the Eagles entered.

So again, the reason why Fitzroy and the WAFL lost support was because they became part of lower tier comps.

That's crap.
The West Coast Eagles joined the VFL, not the AFL

So does that mean that only teams that joined after 1990, joined the AFL? I thought the “official” view was that the VFL (that was formed in 1897) and the AFL are the same competition?
That's right mate, the West Coast Eagles were part of the VFL.

The supporters jumped ship to support a team in the VFL, not the AFL

If that’s true, then how could anyone deny Vic bias? If it’s still the VFL, then bias is baked into the foundation. I mean, come on, the AFL commission is just the VFL commission renamed. Of course they’re going to be biased. Most of these people and their families support Vic clubs.

And it’s not crap. The best football attracts the biggest crowds. The WAFL wasn’t as good as the VFL but before 1987 and especially the 1970s was a very strong league. That’s why people showed up in bigger numbers. It was never the same when West Coast joined.

Of coarse the VFL was better everyone knows that, the supporters couldn't wait to join, when I lived over there in the early 80's, every person I met followed a VFL side.

No-one is denying there is Vicbias, we just like to laugh at some of the post in here by complete idiots that have no idea what bias is.
