Lester could fill that void IMO. He doesn't add as much grunt as Moloney, but he does get his hands on the footy and he wins clearances. I guess one of the reasons we brought Polks in us due to the grunt he can add.Really hope some young kids can fill the inside grunt vacuum left by Moloney and Black. I am worried what Swallow is going to do to us.
This feels like a big game for Vossy.
A win tomorrow and it might push the board over the edge into giving him an extension.
The biggest knock against our performance over the last two years, in my opinion, is our failure to beat mid-table teams at home. Beating the Roos would be a real sign of progress.
BRISBANE'S first back-to-back wins this season have greatly improved the chances of a contract extension for coach Michael Voss. Out of contract at the end of the season after being in charge of the Lions for the past five years, Voss enhanced his claims to be retained as senior coach by Brisbane's come-from-behind win over North Melbourne at the Gabba on Saturday night.
However, despite the Lions' recent giant-killing performances at home, club chairman Angus Johnson told The Australian yesterday that a decision on Voss's future would not be made until the end of the season. "I'm not going to give a running commentary," Johnson said. "We agreed on a process and we're working our way through that. Michael is aware that a decision will be made at the end of the season."
Should Voss get the nod to continue from the Brisbane board, which could possibly be for a further two years, he will be given more football department resources and an upgrade of his current list of players.
Johnson has guaranteed a financial injection to the club's football department, with player development believed to be a priority area that will be expanded. "After cutting back over recent years due to financial pressure, the days of cost-cutting in our football department are well and truly over," he said. Johnson said the Lions' boost to their football department spend would not be solely dependent on additional AFL funding via a revised equalisation policy.
Can't fault the belief under Voss. Some massive comebacks under his tenure.
52-points v Geelong 2013 (biggest in club history)
33-points v North 2013
38-points v Adelaide 2012
38-points v Eagles 2009
47-points v Port 2009
30-points v Carlton 2009 (Elimination Final)
It's funny how things go.
In the 99-04 period under Matthews, what would've been our biggest comeback? I can't think of anything significant.
We tended to rack up a big early lead and hold onto it for three quarters.
Although looking at 2013 to date he has had 2 bob each-way royboy, a NAB premiership was bright [pity the bloody globes burnt out weeks later] Then a couple of upsets and now the slow build to the possibility of three in a row to have us sitting with 4 from last 5 - bring it on I say!Good stats, but only the 2013 ones are relevant to the decision at the end of the year. Like the comebacks, we are only beginning to warm up late in the year and it's better to start slowly and build, then to burn bright early and fade away on all levels.
"But I want a premiership, Daddy! I want one noooowwww!"Wow, it's very quiet in that Toss the Voss facebook group.
No action since May 25th when they last so eloquently and academically made the case that Voss "should **** off and resign".
I'm sure some of them post here... just know that we are laughing at you. Pity laughs.

NAB Cup to me is to borrow a great line out of Blackadder II - like a broken pencil - pointless.
Do you really believe that one bad half of football is cause to question his future again, despite the very good signs of the past 2 months?
The board will go into meltdown though when Roos signs with Melbourne.
Frankly, PattyK, I think that half of footy has put a lot of the last 2 months into some kind of context.
Our sloppiness in possession is actually reminding me a lot of the Port game, funnily enough, except that the Tigers are much more ruthless in taking advantage.
I find this concept that Roos is some kind of messiah destined to lead whatever team he deigns to bestow his miracle working upon, a curious one.
I doubt if the "meltdown" would be universal....I for one have found Roos' bashful bride routine rather tiresome.
No chance he's going anywhere now.
