POTY:

5: Rutten- Absolutely destroyed Hall tonight, the contest just prior to half time summed up his performance. Best FB in the league.

4: McLeod- In unbelievable form. Provided so much run from defence and came to the rescue many times.

3: Bassett- Like the other defenders, Bassett was superb. Barely lost a contest.

2: Thompson- Brilliant performance in the midfield. 24 possesions, 7 marks, 7 tackles.

1: van Berlo- 15 possesions and 8 of them being contested, sums up VB. Brilliant in close, excellent tackling, especially on Goodes in the final term.

I'm surprised Bassett is getting so many votes!
He kept O'Loughlin fairly quiet, but I thought Mickey could have easily kicked 4 or 5. Bassett always plays off his man to a degree, but I thought he played far too loose up until sometime through the third quarter when he finally started to stick with O'Loughlin. His decision making when he was running off Mickey wasn't anywhere near what it is normally. Had Sydney's midfielder's been a little wiser with how they used it, O'Loughlin would have given Fred a bath as he was caught in no mans land between the contest and his man on many occassions.
As it stood, Fred's game improved as the night went on, and he did have a solid game, but not up to his usual standards. His opponent was the Swans leading scorer.

What a magnificent team effort tonight. :thumbsu:

Macca and Rutten were standouts but after that it could have been Reilly, Edwards, Thompson, Doughty, van Berlo, Burton, Hudson etc

POTY

5: McLEOD - This champion just keeps on keeping on. Should have 9 Brownlow votes in the bag now after another brilliant attacking game from HB.

4: RUTTEN - Made Hall look like a hack rather than the imposing brute he normally is. Hall and Tredrea must have nightmares about this bloke!! :D

3: REILLY - Has become our premier mid-fielder this year IMO, having taken his game to a new level. Fearless, tough, but also prepared to run and create. excellent game tonight

2: van BERLO - How good is this young man. His work rate was magnificent - remember that moment where he held his ground in front of a charging Hall. Plays like a leader not a youngster.

1: DOUGHTY Has copped some unwarranted flak of late from some posters, but surely would have silenced them with his hardworking hard running game tonight. How good will this young man be when he grows up?? ;)

Best Team Man

3: RUTTEN - slaughtered Tredrea last week, carved up Hall this week. That's AA form in any man's language.

2: HUDSON - More than held his own aganst the alleged stars of Everitt and Jolly. Has come back from his knee injury as if he's never missed a beat.

1: THOMPSON - only missed the best players by a bee's dick on the slack. An odd brain fade here and there but overall in great form so far this year.

Rookie

1: KNIGHTS - used the ball well tonight and is now definitely an AFL standard player - will end up a very good one.

1: GRIFFIN - doing a great job this year after virtually jumping up from Centrals B team. Some of his tapwork tonight was excellent. :thumbsu:

I can't believe Edwards hasn't got a single vote, but in saying that I didn’t include him in my list. :p He was superb tonight, great in close, kicked that brilliant snap goal in the second quarter and his delivery on both sides of his body was, as usual, top notch. Great game from Edwards.

POTY
5- Andrew Mcleod
4- Ben Rutten (Hard to split those two)
3- Brent Reilly (This guy must play for Sturt or something?)
2- Tyson Edwards (almost Goody)

BTM

2- VB (took some hard hits and just kept bouncing up, excellent contested posessions and tackling)
1- Porplyzia (Always great efforts)

Rookie
2- Griffen (Up against a very good ruck duo tonight, where has this guy come from?! He shone)
1- Knighta!

Worth a mention IMO:
- Welsh (I can be very critical of this aspect of his game sometimes but his agression at the ball, tackling and second efforts were fantastic tonight, please keep it up Welshie!)
- Perrie (The way he attacked the ball was a marked improvement, starting to play with more confidence)
- Probably others, but mainly wanted to mention the above two forwards.
