The best part about having Jones/Crameri/Grant all playing is it creates an issue to who the opposition sends their best defender too. Crameri was quiet but worked hard today, but of he gets the second or third defender he will torch them. Jones should be brainwashed with vision of his chase on Young, let him know that you can be in a game even if you aren't getting much of the footy.

A friend of mine lives next to Gias parents and has known them since he was pretty young. Whenever he's talked to Gia, he's been pretty open about wanting to hang up his boots and move into coaching.

Yeah we all know he wants to get into coaching and thats cool, but he still offers so much and you're a long time retired! I suppose its all down to his motivation at this stage, I'm meerly just thowing up the idea that he still has a lot to offer in an on field capacity.

Gee thanks for choosing today to fire.
Your midfield is amazing at it's best, and i think you will come home even harder than you did last year. Libba is scary good.
lots to look forward to for you guys, good game.

What about Cloke? :p
Good to see the big fella firing (just wish it wasn't against us)

Couldn't agree more.

I don't watch the U/18s as closely as I'd like, but I thought Bontempelli would be hovering around 10 after he bolted right into first round calculations. I dare say if he got past us you could have had him at 10, the other clubs had their hearts set on particular players.

It definitely is in better shape, going forward, we just need to sustain our brand for four quarters - it's been the big issue all year. Have had a few non-Bulldog people reassure me recently that we're very close to turning it all around - I hope they're right.

I really think you are well and truly heading in the right direction. I mentioned before I'm not reacting to your beating of us today, I've posted the same thoughts earlier this year.
Your midfield is so well balanced in terms of player types and they are all quality.
Libba, Wallis and Picken are all hard as nails and also not only play their roles but can shut down opponents too.
Then in Macrae and Bonti you've got some real class which I like to Beams and Pendles. Those are the core guys I see as driving the team.
Some teams don't even have 2-3 players of that calibre so to have them to build around is a huge thing. Then in defence you have Talia who you can build around and is top quality.
My only concern is the lack of a gun forward although this coming draft provides a chance to address that area.
All in all though I rate yours as the best young midfield group outside of the expansion teams.
Collingwood really missed out with Picken too.

I thought a Wallis was terrific. I know Pendlebury was good etc champ of the game etc but watching it live his influence on the game and the way it was played wasn't as dominant as I've seen him in the past. Might be different on the replay, but that was my impression live. Wallis is good.
Agreed, I thought Wallis was a lot more damaging in an attacking sense than he's been all year. Saw a bit of the same last week also. Hopefully he'll build from here and start to use his natural inside prowess to damage the opposition more whilst also limiting one of their more influential mids.

Wallis was good enough overall but Pendlebury beat him one-out in the forward line again and again. Hopefully Mitch can learn from the experience in some way.

I've been critical of our slow, handball happy, error-ridden style, but today was bloody sensational.

We moved it fast and took the game on and it produced results. Outstanding in so many ways and happy to eat humble pie, because it came out of the blue.

More please Dogs and give us a spoonful of Honey next week.

The common thread with Wallis' increase in output is Boyd's absence, happened last year too. Don't think they fit too well into the one team. Not saying jettison Boyd (necessarily) but its interesting.

I think we can give Collingwood a little bit of a reprieve compared to some other clubs. They played a pretty big part in our survival, and as big as they are, they've got the same percentage of idiot supporters as anyone else and they're not as evil as some other clubs.

I can handle supporters making brash and arrogant remarks pre-game, you'd probably expect that from a side 10 spots higher on the ladder. But it was disappointing to see our club being rubbished just because we recorded a win. To that point, though, it was the usual suspects - and every club has that percentage, which still applies on here.

There are greater evils to direct your hate at than Collingwood - they're just fine, if you ask me :)

Each to their own.

You probably haven't had Collingwood force fed down your throat your entire life like I have. I went and watched Collingwood play week in and week out in the late 80's and early 90's at Victoria Park, Waverley and the 'G'. I still choose to support an 'irrelevant' club over them. It was that whole 'one eyed' view of a game which told me they don't love the game and want what is best for the game, they just want to win at all costs. I can't stand their Mob mentality.

I know they are not all like that, but they have so many that are.

If someone told me that Cloke would kick 6 and Pendles would play like that pre game, i would have banked the win.
But all credit goes to your young midfielders for dominating our young mids.

Hope for your sake that Jones can play like that more often, just please not for our next encounter :(.

I am quite happy with how it's all coming together - going to be exciting with all these quality players coming through, we've drafted brilliantly in the last 3 years. Just need to get the development right, and with a VFL team we finally have that opportunity.

Wonder why Collingwood didn't draft Picken? He wasn't all there at 18, but by 22 when we picked him up, he was good to go. Been toweling up quality players since his very first game, in which Brent Harvey refused to shake his hand after being held to just 5 touches.

He is very skilful but wasn't it more about the penetration of his long kicks? Am a big wrap for his skills but he is yet to show that he can kick it low and hard to a target 50m away.

My post was more directed at a certain poster who blames Jackson Macrae's kicking technique for every evil under the sun. Sam Mitchell doesn't have a very penetrating kick either but goes okay.

I can agree to disagree with you although you do point out it's not the case that we're all the same.
What we do have in common though is a passion for our clubs. A REAL passion.
I only had to watch the 2010 GF replay the other week to realise just how many fair weather Saints supporters there are. It's like half of Melbourne share a dirty secret... that Saints scarf hidden at the bottom of the drawers that only comes out once every decade or so when there's a win streak on.

Yeah, I can understand that. There obviously are a lot of supporters that are like that.

I have an absolutely blood-boiling hatred of Essendon that dates back as far as I can remember (and look where their win at all costs - or whatever it takes - mentality got them), but I get along very well with a few of their supporters who are a little more realistic about recent events.

I have no real beef with Collingwood. They are nowhere near Essendon on my list of organisations I'd love to see burn to the ground. Not going to give them any more respect than they deserve though, which is very little on the basis of a majority of their fan's comments I have read online this evening and put up with at today's game.

Oor Wally pull your pants up. I'm being flippant.
