I had a friends wedding today, I watched bits of the game on my ipad while my GF drove from the service the reception but need to watch the replay. Anyone else having issues with Smart Replay on the AFL site?

I liked it, thought he had some good tactical comments about where both sides had a loose player which you couldn't generally see from the footage.

He was barracking for us, which helped of course.

Haha, I found Thompson's barracking a little strange. I have never heard such open barracking for the Dogs from a commentator before - not from Rohan Smith, Johnno, Hall, no-one.

To be honest, it put me off a bit. But I did enjoy some of his observations.

I've attempted to post several times yesterday. I just can't find the words.
I was thinking after the Richmond game that to earn some respect in the next couple of years that we needed to claim a big scalp and not just beat the flaky sides.
But never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be Sydney at the SCG in the wet in round 5! That's like beating Andre the Giant in a Battle Royal, it just doesn't happen very often.
So right now I'm sitting here several hours after the win at 3:30 am still in disbelief. Is this real?
I love this bloody club....

Phew...

I've finally landed back on earth. Those last 5 minutes after Woody kicked the goal to put us slightly ahead.

There were no goals, nothing fancy in those last 5 minutes. Just absolute gut running and defence. Tackling pressure from our boys went off the charts. So proud of this team. This is definitely up there with one of the best wins, particularly given our off season. It was absolute, desperate team football.

If anyone gets a chance to watch a replay, make sure you focus on those last 5 minutes. This is team defining stuff. Club defining.

What a great feeling to wake up on Sunday morning 4-1 after defeating Sydney in the wet on their own patch. My votes are:

3. Wood. Game winning goal. Consecutive game winning efforts in defence. Good all day in multiple roles supporting Talia and Roberts.

2. Murphy. Definitive "Captain's Game" full of class and courage, he only had one arm in the last qtr, after a big bump jarred him up, but check the smother he made just before a sydney goal. Then to steady and keep pumping the footy in long was real courageous stuff.

1. Picken. I had him washed up under the new coach on 2014 form and the assumption Wallis, Libba and Clay would push him out. Instead, true to his character, he has gone up a notch. Playing some great footy .

Shout out to my man Fletch, came in and did a job in tough conditions. He made two of the best defensive plays in the air all game when the heat was on.

I had the privilege to be at the ground for one of our clubs finest wins. I don't think I've ever been so stressed as I was in the last 5 minutes. My head was thumping, then jubilation. My son will remember this day forever. As Huddo said mark this day in the history of the Western Bulldogs.

Never been prouder of this club and for those that have not signed up as members I implore you, if your financial situation allows, to sign and get on board. And those that are members already, upgrade to social club.

To our coach and players, thank you for bringing the enjoymemt of this game back to your long suffering supporters. Lead by Bobby, this young group is playing an exciting style of footy that the whole competition needs to see, but unfortunately won't due to our shocking fixture and TV schedule.

Once again, thanks to this club for making one of my son's and I most memorable days together. Now if the rain would just stop so we can enjoy Sydney today.

Webb's game was great for a player in his first year. Puts himself in the right positions and against the big boys in Sydney didn't look out of his depth.

I'd say potential rising star nomination but we all know that that award is a load of crap.

Love the thought of watching Bonti, Libba, Stringer, Macrae, Webb, Hrovat, Wallis, Toyd, Jong and co over the next 8-10yrs.

Our time is coming boys...

No doubt we have a diamond here Roscoe. He is tough and talented for sure with a beautiful kick .
But what stands out for me is his composure , that game was as frantic as it gets .
He belongs in every sense of the word !

Dicko got through a power of work yesterday including 9 tackles and a couple of clearances.

Definitely one of his better games.. Apart from a few sprayed kicks in the first quarter he was alright in yesterday's conditions

Yeah, I'm pretty forgiving of disposal stats in this game given the conditions. But the effort was universal and Dicko part of that. In fact what struck me was that (almost) every player made a significant defensive contribution at some point in the game and that's the stuff that premerships are built on.
I'd go so far as to say that yesterday's game is the very definition of Cede Nullis.

i don't really believe we are short players, i reckon we are just short game experience
Yeah and each game we play is closing that gap fast! Yesterday worth at least 10 game's experience. Sydney, at home, in the wet, full strength bar Reid, under the pump in first 10 mins, then we took control and held it every time we were challenged right up to the siren. Screw honourable losses, we showed up to win!

feel like ..
lmao.... that's sad on so many levels....lolo

I'm still on cloud nine. Usually when we have a string of unexpected wins we falter at the big one, not this time! Comparisons to us and the baby bombers of the nineties would be interesting. The won a flag could we?
