I'm still on cloud nine. Usually when we have a string of unexpected wins we falter at the big one, not this time! Comparisons to us and the baby bombers of the nineties would be interesting. They won a flag could we?

that would be something...

Don't want to be too vindictive (just a little), but does anyone with Twitter want to remind Cameron Ling of this tweet?

And maybe Robbo about this one:

Yes it's only round 5, but our tumultuous off-season is looking like a genuine watershed moment for the club.

Will never forgive those two after the rubbish they threw at our club, thing is before that happened i liked them both

I've never heard the song sung with such passion - fantastic, Doggies!

Picken, Wood, Murph, Crameri, Dahl, Jongy were HUUUUUUUUUUGE! Hrovat did some great things, also Moyd, Bont, Macrae, Roughie. Don't want to leave anyone out as everyone did something good. Fantastic to see the TEAM functioning for each other. Special mention to JJ, taking on bigger opponents and beating them!

 To Fox for the stingy after-match coverage :(
WEBBY....

I love how Ling is somehow using 20 wins in 3 seasons as a good sign as a coach. It's the fifth worst record in VFL/AFL history of all coaches of three or more seasons, one of the four being McKenna cosching kids. The difference between 28 and 20 is quite significant as well - a Clarkson coaches 40% more wins. Even if he's made to look a fool now with Bev, his logic in the first place is nonsensical.

reading between the lines in the presser i don't think Bevo agrees with you. Today for me was a real step forward for that new ruck flexibility set up. I agree 100% though with what you're saying, he got caned in the contests mainly early in the first quarter. I wouldn't be surprised either way though this week.

Bevo's insight on Boyd in the presser is brilliant. Loves what he's doing and reckons he's got a few free kicks loading. Haha
Cordy moves much better in a dry day and is a 4th midfielder at the clearances, where Pike would not be.

Yep - it wouldn't surprise me if he is retained for next week but that's my personal thought. Bev seems to love the fact that Cordy is mobile which means that our zone/structure is more air-tight, even if it means that we lose a bit of edge at the stoppage situation. It's a hypothetical, sure, we might lose a clearance, but we're more likely to force a turnover because Cordy is more mobile and blocking space better and eliminating options for the other team, thus forcing them to take more time with ball in hand and then our forward pressure comes into the equation. It's truly is a zero-sum game - is it really worth us having Cordy in the ruck and losing stoppages more often, just because he's a bloke who's 204cm but can cover territory quite well for his height and therefore better for our overall general structure and zone?
That is it in a nut shell, that's why Bevo is having him in the team.

If we are serious about winning finals, we really need another quality ruckman. Campbell may or may not be an answer, but Cordy and Minsonnwont be there much longer. Someone like Jarrod Witts, Smith or Nicholls from GC or one of the West Coast guys would be the ones I would be targeting.
Smith for mine,he gets around like Cordy but better at the hit outs..

Love the way your mob is playing. I was on the bandwagon after RD 1, and have agreed with everything the doggies did over the pre-season. Its obvious in the way they play that they no longer want to imitate other clubs and follow what they do, but want to play their own brand and have their own identity on and off the field.

You're building something special there and by special I mean culture. The players want to bleed for each other and the club. Great signs.

Also on Lingy just sticking up for a mate. The AFL and all it encompasses is really one big boys club.

If we're going by the logic as to why Cordy is currently our first ruck, we'd want a very mobile ruck who covers territory well. I'm not sure if any of those players do that significantly well enough to be worth trading a draft pick for.

Holy crap we are 4-1 and have beaten Sydney, Adelaide, Richmond and West Coast. IF we don't drop off towards the end of the year, we will likely get some finals experience for this young group. One week at a time I know, but wow who would have thought that a few weeks ago. Looks like i'm coming to Melbourne again this year, maybe a few times...

Imagine me saying that at half time of the Melbourne / Dogs NAB Challenge game when it was doomsday central in here.

I love this football club.
Thats a really important thing to happen if it does, i personally think, if hypothetically it happens, that will bring us our premiership dynasty, like Geelong's and the Hawks and Lions...

Thats why i mentioned Smith, as he does get around the ground very well, and is a good ruckman. just my thoughts.

HOney played a great game

Your mate Hrovat missed two tackles in a row with two minutes to play but kept working so bloody hard and ended up with what may have been a match saving play. Kid's got character!

Hi all, I wasn't sure if this was the right place to post my question, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how I can watch yesterdays replay online for free (I don't have foxtel...) I've watched the last few weeks replays on AFL's smart replay site with no problems but it's telling me this week that I'm outside of Australia and dont have access to full replays. Has anyone else experienced this problem with the smart replay site? Any advice would be much appreciated :)

The other thing he missed is that Clarkson took them to finals in his third season. McCartney won 7 games is his. Minor detail I'm sure.

Those defending Cordy are drawing a very long bow. It's all good to say he plays as a 4th midfielder... he's a bloody horrible midfielder then.

I can understand the defensive traits he is bringing to the game but I think this experiment should end. Will cost us a game soon.

On the positive side. Our defence has stood up so well in the face of repeated entries.

Don't tell me there isn't advanced stats or something similar that Bev and the match selection committee are using in regards to Cordy's role - and after all we have won both games with him in the team.

Hehehehe, still smiling after watching that
Yeah when i seen it come up, the last 2 minutes i thought but no goals were scored, compared to say that 3rd Quarter against the Crows, but just made me realize how god that tackling and pressure was, spine tingling....
