More stats:

Claremont:
McGinnity: 31 touches(15 kicks, 16 hb), 11 marks, 5 tackles and 3 inside 50.:thumbsu::thumbsu:(please give this guy a game woosha)

They are impressive stats. :thumbsu: Any one go to the game and able to comment ?

Dont be too phased by the boys playing for Peel like, Schofield and J Jones. Game was played in Margaret River and it was a real old dour struggle for clean footy as it was seriously wet and windy down here. I saw the game for the first half and upon seeing Jones get three marks Im pleasantly surprised. Thats the kind of day it was.
Went to the Peel huddle at quarter time and the coaches and players broke into their positional coaching groups. Jones has a bit to say, so is no doubt getting more confidence into him.

Zachary Cleake looks like an athletic type and it looks like Nic Nat and him will have some awesome duels over the next decade. Cant wait!

Thought the 3 goals flattered Hansen, did take some decent marks but well short of what he needs to get a game at AFL level. Davis & Notte no real influence. Butler was very good with 32 possessions. Might have been something to do with Swans playing a spare man why he was chipping a fair bit. Won plenty of contested possies though and hardly missed a target. Surely should be playing ahead of Mcnamara and Swift IMO.

au contrare, Davis was great in the cllinches today, and there were plenty of those. 11 tackles is huge. He stopped a lot of Perth's run from the stoppages. Notte was important in the first and last quarters, particularly when he relieved Spaanders in the ruck.

did anyone see nicknat, yarran, walters in the crowd today(on tv) at the swan dist vs perth, yarran seems to always be in perth, read in the carlton board early in the year that early in the season he went home to see family. gotta feeling he probably will come home soon.

Don't know if the coverage showed, but Naita was the first down to the team to congratulate and high five them, possibly more excited than they were!:D

yep (on satelite) he doesnt look dangerous enough with his disposals to make an impact at AFL level. Time up at the end of the year or contract I suspect.

You try and have an impact in that Perth team . He can't help that his forwards, out on their own, inside 50 and under minimal pressure dropped marks.

What's McGinnity's disposal like?

Better than Palmers. ;) Nah he's generally pritty composed, i would bring him in for McNamara.

As For Butler he will have to produce at AFL level, sixth season on the list and hes still seriously undersided, nearly as undersized as Rosa.

??? He's one of the best disposals on our list ???
One of the only players we have who can play both inside and outside, and is one of our only players who has a good look before he kicks.

Not as of late.

I liked what I saw from Butler, very composed, very clean and back to playing his link & distribute from traffic role.

EH - butler has always been slim and will always be slim - doesn't stop him being very competitive inside traffic.

also doesnt stop him getting hammered and unable to hold tackles against much bigger bodies in th AFL. he needs much more run and carry to compesate.

Back in 06 he wasnt as slim, he had strong shoulders and some frame but has lost them now. Looks quite slight.

I agree he didnt look as dangerous as I would of liked, his handballing in congestion was good and allowed others to get space. He did kick 1 Hurn like pass which was pretty damaging and his disposal was pretty good, to the right targets and accurate. He did miss que the disposal a couple of times but it wasent anything like a Fletcher type miss. Mostly his disposal was just good honest hit the target type disposal, would of liked to see him take the game on more.

Your in lala land if you think his time is up though, we need this bloke fit and firing for us in the future. If at best he becomes a decent B grade midfielder of the Priddis, A.Selwood type I would be happy and he would have a place in our midfield for at least the next 3 years.

I agree, he was easily there best and I hope that he can continue to improve to the point where he becomes a starting 18 mid in our team.

Everything he did was fine but the majority of it wasent of the quality that would make you say this guy is going to be very damaging at AFL level. ie no raking long kicks, no big run and carry's, no pin points to leading forwards ect... From memory anyway.

Your right though there wasent much from the rest of the team which might of allowed him to take the game on more, and the commentary said that the whole team seemed to be under direction to chip it around rather than go long. Mabye if he had of been asked to kick longer and run and carry like the swans did he would of been more damaging.

Would like to see him back in the AFL next weekend.

I can understand your point that you don't go wow with long kicks/runs/carry etc but it's all the small things that he does that often don't get noticed like making the right decisions, filling spaces in the midfield and providing a linking option, filling holes for defenders, disposing well by hand in heavy traffic, keeping his feet in the contest. All of these things plus the fact he has a football brain i believe make him a good footballer at AFL level (despise so-so form in 2009). I second the notion that I would like to see him in the team this weekend and IMO for the rest of the year. If he was a starting WIngman/MId when he was contesting for spots along side Judd, Cousins, Kerr surely he has the quality to be in the starting 18 in the current side. At least this is what i strongly believe and will continue to, despite what others say.

Pat chopped up. last week a few of my mates from claremont said that if pat played well he should be getting a call up against the hawks, and well he chopped up so did his chances no harm

Good news everyone!

Swan Districts v Perth

Ashley Smith (reserves): Started slowly in the first quarter at half-back, but when injected into the forward line and through the midfield had a stronger impact. Kicked a couple of goals to cap off a good game.

Ashley Hansen: After a quiet start, Hansen persisted to kick three goals in the third quarter. Conditions deteriorated in the last quarter to make it difficult for him, but he took seven marks in a good effort.

Ryan Davis: Davis worked hard with 12 tackles and was very good from the defensive point of view. Found it difficult to find space and was matched up on Butler for parts of the game.

Tony Notte: Looked good at times, without dominating the game and also applied six tackles.

Sam Butler: Sam started the game very well, winning 18 possessions in the first half and finished with 31 for the game. Sam used the ball well and played the link role through the corridor and centre square. He was one of Perth’s better players in a side that was beaten easily.

Will Sullivan: Worked hard with limited opportunities. With the chances he had, performed well.

Claremont v East Fremantle

Liam Bedford: When he had the ball he looked sharp, but could improve his second and third efforts to win possession.

Beau Wilkes: Worked really hard, led up strongly and took some really good marks. Tried his heart out, showed good aggression and will be better for the run.

Brett Jones: Played well throughout and was very solid in defense.

Lewis Stevenson: Stevenson played a solid game and is still continuing to develop.

Pat McGinnity: He worked hard for 22 possessions and 5 tackles and his ball use very efficient.

Brent Staker: Touch at ground level was a little rusty and then damaged a finger in the second term and id not play the second half.

Tim Houlihan: Got into good positions early but was not used, but his pace and run were very good and he continues a good run of form.

East Perth v Peel

Ashley Arrowsmith: Started on the bench, but then played the rest of the game on a wing, with a short period in the midfield and deep forward. He was good in the contested situation and worked hard.

Jordan Jones: Produced a steady game at half-back in trying conditions. He showed good desperation and courage in contested situations, made seven spoils and used the ball pretty well.

Will Schofield: Played full-back on the bigger Andrew Merrington and Schofield. Will played a strong disciplined game, was good defensively and was a solid contributor in defence.

South Fremantle v Subiaco

Chad Fletcher: A hard running performance in the midfield where he used handball to good effect , read the play well and was an important link man for his side . He was able to find space and time and applied good tackling pressure .

Adam Cockie: A solid performance in the midfield, where he relished the contested ball and showed an ability to wait until the best option presented, and then used handball creatively to ensure his team maintained possession. His reading of the play was good and he hit the contest hard, tackling well when required.

Callum Wilson: A promising first quarter in attack, where he presented well, took a couple of marks and kicked a terrific snap shot goal from about 45 metres out. He added another goal (soccered from a few metres out in the goal square) in the last quarter . Earlier in the match he took marks and missed both set shots for goal.

Ashley Smith (reserves): Started slowly in the first quarter at half-back, but when injected into the forward line and through the midfield had a stronger impact. Kicked a couple of goals to cap off a good game.
Another Lecras ???
