Toast Warren Tredrea - Elected to the Port Board (Football discussion only)

Okay, who else was asked?
And who on this board has been working behind the scenes to make it happen?

If the people who have been working with Warren want to put that on the record now or after the election then that's up to them to do, not me.

And I'm not going to post information that was given to me in confidence about others who were asked but I have no reason to disbelieve it.

I would never bag Abernethy as a former great player for us. As others have stated played lots of great games in finals. In his later years on more than one occasion in finals, playing in defence he would get the job on a rampaging D Jarman and absolutely make him ineffectual whilst having the ability to play his own game himself.
Most people here are aware of Tredrea’s record and what a champion CHF he was.
This is about people’s opinions on who would be the most effective candidate, to have the biggest positive influence on the board, especially football matters.
The fact that someone of Boulton’s standing felt he needed to publicly come out in support of Tredrea is a massive endorsement for his candidacy.
Burton publicly supporting Aber shouldn’t be taken that seriously and I’m not just talking about the fact that he’s endorsing his possible future father in law.

People annoyed at Burto's support of Abba but silent last week when Boulton, James etc were openly supportive of Tredrea says everything.

This is a wild false equivalence. Boulton and James aren't current Port Adelaide employees.

I believe Abba is generally anti-Hinkley but running against Tredrea shows that he's one of 3 things:

  • A Koch stooge
  • Oblivious to why it's so important Tredders gets elected
  • Knows why it's important Tredders gets elected, but is too self interested to care

None of these things reflect well on him as a candidate.

The comment you took issue with was a reply to a post that had already noted that Abernathy (sic) had won more (premierships the obvious interference as it is the aim of a club and players) than Tredrea.

Other than correcting the spelling of a surname of a soon to be failed club puppet your words have been completely pointless.
Thanks for letting me know how I was thinking champ.

Is it not a conflict of interest for officials to openly support on social media who they want on the board?

Also of course the players want Abba, they're dead scared of Tredrea rocking the boat of comfortableness and no expectations for them.
You bet it's a conflict of interest which is lost of some people without a clue.

What an absolute dumpster fire of a football club Koch and Richardson are presiding over at the moment. Never in my time as a footy fan can I remember a current player at any club getting involved themselves in a board election? He should be getting read the riot act, instead he’ll probably get a pat on the back from the spineless gits running the club at the moment.

Big difference between a current employee and a former board member and a former employee. If you can't understand that distinction that says everything.

LOL maybe if Burton had pledged his support for Tredrea, his chances of playing in round 1 would be diminished.......

If he'd declared his support for Tredrea he would have been branded as a "hater" by the club administration. Anyone not 100% in the Daddy Donuts camp is a "hater". Totalitarian regimes like the one running the PAFC can't tolerate and criticism.

It does?

Boulton and James are nothing more than club members like you and me.

Burton is a current player.

I don't blame Burton, he's too young and immature to realise how inappropriate that is.

The problem is that the people who should be telling him to pull his head in are certainly not going to do so - especially when a certain prominent figure whose job description this might fall under has actually failed in his attempt at convincing Tredrea not to run.

What do you expect him to say?
Nothing. Not your job and your role to comment on board appointment. It ain’t that ****ing hard. Half of the problem at the club are the players are weak as piss and believe in Their own self importance and entitlement

Yeah it's a joke - Koch's "be reasonable: do it my way" approach to running the club is laughable.

Na mate he turns 27 years of age in 2 days - brain is fully developed by that point, he's got no excuse and absolutely should know better. He has to wear the blame on this above anyone else.

The Club should have nipped this in the bud immediately though, and if they had any sense of integrity they would put out a statement disassociating Ryan's statement from any opinion of the Club.

Employees generally interact with the CEO and chairman of the board. Whole board interaction would be minimal, I was asked not to talk to employees outside of how’s the weather.

So if an employee has an opinion it’s up to them. Board members coming out public with their view different story. However how does it differ much to them soliciting for votes over the phone for example with members they are friendly with. Positive that happens.

Bruce was a great player. Go Wazza

Surely you don't expect him to say nothing - so what, he made a post about his future father in law - Move on
Nothing is exactly what he should be saying. It's just appropriate governance. Despite what some people might think, posting on social media is still optional. He should've been asked to remove the post by someone at the club. Of course, he won't. Had the post been an endorsement of Tredrea, on the other hand...

Not on this board you can't apparently. Some people have got short memories, or no brains.
New to politics and the internet I see?

I think it’s fair to question Abers motives.
He’s clearly a patsy. If that means he’s annoyed people and they get personal. Then that’s politics.

It is a weird call. All I’ve been told previously he dislikes Ken and Koch head
