Well I've got my EJ Whitten Social Club membership in the unlikely event, or the possibility, or the reasonable chance, or the very good chance, or the distinct likelihood, or the certainty that we play off for the flag this year. No harm in preparing oneself for the great uncertainties of life!

I think it all depends on our first 8 weeks, if we come out of the block firing and win most of them, we will give it a shake, if we go 50/50 we might make finals.

I had it even during the mcspud years haha

I believe our club are at same point as Hawthron were at end season 2007 and the won it 2008 and recruit Dew instead off draft a younger player ( the coach over ruled recruit team David Z got draft 12 month to Bomber )for that purpose we have done a similarly thing by bring Suckling what do you guy think ?
Jongy, You're an idiot! If you learned how to handball properly we might be in with half a chance. Mate, when I'm made captain I'll make sure you're shipped off to Carlton before you can say "o que aconteceu"

Yeah have a feeling we may take a teeny step sideways this year but next year and the year after massive chance
I have the same feeling however I cant help but get caught up in the excitement. Seasons are long and at times decided by a kick here or ACL there. Top 4 is the key for this year and next. Two bites at the cherry will prime the team to launch into 2017 and beyond. Still a very young group, its possible but so is Melbourne sneaking into the 8 on the enormous shoulders of Hogan. I had a lot of feelings of nostalgia regarding last year with 1997. Now once more I'm reminded of what happened in '98 and '99. Anythings possible but i think a finish of 5-8 this year is more likely.

To pinch a line from the PM, there's never been a more exciting time to #bemorebulldog

Depends on,

How long Collins takes to play and craft his defensive game and gel with Roberts and Hamling
How long it takes Boyd to start making his presence felt and taking marks in and around the fw50 arc
How long it takes our midfield to resettle with Libba back.

IMO we could be a top 4 finish and runner up if things go right.

What's this runner up talk all about?

Massive chance. Need to make the most of the first 7 games at etihad to set up the year, make top 4 then anything can happen. Cant see us not being competitive against any team. If we can stay fit and have a touch of luck along the way, we are a big shot at the flag. Go Doggies!!

Being conservative
I can understand your conservatism. Personally while a premiership would be wonderful there is an overhanging fear of my capabilities to sit through and withstand a prelim again. This list can give us the glory we long so hopefully our past pains can be overcome.

Can we win the flag this year, well i guess we are one of the
eighteen teams that will be trying. I love the optimism in the
thread it is clearly an exciting time ahead for our list, but are
we ready yet well yes if everything goes right as we know to
well things don't always go to plan however. I think we are
around four years away from glorious back to back flags in
2020 and 2021 when our list will be in a much stronger
position to dominate and Bont is the new captain having
been passed the torch by Robert Murphy so he can focus
more on his football in his final years having already passed
the games record.

We are a 50 goal season from Tom Boyd away from winning a granny. Will not win one before then

What we need from Boyd more than anything is contested marking, outside of Easton Wood (and Roughy when he plays) it's something we struggle at massively. If he was top 10 in CM's, consistently physically engaged, was a genuine 2nd ruck option but only kicked 30-35 goals we could win the flag (other talls need to develop similarly I might add). Goals aren't the issue, Stringer and Dicko will kick enough.

This all sounds very nice and easy enough, but for those of us younger than 1000 years old this is what genuine success and a Premiership cup(s) actually looks like.

Depressing isn't it?

We are light years away from the system sustainability of a WC or a Hawthorn. Experience will give us that. And we won't win until we have rucks who can mark and have the endurance and mobility to cover the ground.
