Has there ever been a game decided by a handball point?
I'm not sure, but I often wonder why team's don't do it as there's less chance of it being smothered from the higher point of disposal and speed to punch without the need for the drop.

Most players could smash it through from 25m out and a lot from 30+ metres.

Would the score count? Or would it be play on and the game ends before the point counts?

I remember a Claremont player maybe really early 90s (I think Joe Smith was his name) having a kick after the siren from the pocket and chipping it to a team-mate in the goal square instead of having a shot. Wouldn't want to replicate something like that.

I mean more when a team has a deep inside 50 with 10 seconds on the clock and they're all trying to feed it out for someone to get it on the boot. They can just handball it through for a point.

If a player marks it they can handball from behind the mark after the siren, same as a kick. Obviously they would never do this though.

Soligo didn’t finish top 10 in the sprint test at the combine (10th place was basically 3 sec) and is sub-180 cm, so I doubt he’s that fast in a straight line. is certainly agile.

As mentioned, it’s the ability to break through and get separation out of stoppages that is more important for mids, but if he’s playing HBF or wing permanently his top speed will obv be useful.
Not really a huge issue for an outside player as long as he is on the move when recieving and some watch hitting the ball at pace. I used to watch a heap of crows of games in the day and smith when he was in prime looked like an absolute speed merchant but he was always receiving the balls while he was at full pace and he was absolutely dangerous as a line breaker.

Why are we referencing draft combine results from 3 years ago, before players in question were in a professional environment?

Going by this Chad Warner is slow because that’s what his rookie me draft profile stated.

Soligo is quick.

I don't know what got him drafted as a 1st rd pick but from my eyes, he:

  • Doesn't look overly fast, though he isn't slow
  • Disposal is okay without being great
  • Decision making is poor

Looks a really average player. I don't know why they are playing him on the wing when faster players run away from him. What will experience actually make him improve?

He was a pick 14 mate. If you knew anything about drafting you would know Chesser is a pretty standard pick 14. That’s where we picked sheed, Duggan, venables etc. You cant expect to get superstars at pick 14.

He has improved significantly on last year so experience is clearly making him better lol.

This is sunken cost fallacy now. He was absolutely atrocious yesterday and was the main reason we lost. For all the talk of running patterns being his strength he was as lost as a 6 year old at a Royal Show yesterday.

He simply has to be dropped. It’s time to see give Gaff a farewell tour and make sure a part of our off season sees a winger of some sort join the club.

He has improved significantly. It doesn’t mean he is AFL best 22 unfortunately

Forgot the key aspect of has no ability to compete overhead. Wood absolutely destroyed him yesterday in that aspect to the point Wood was turning clear contested situations into uncontested marks

He is clearly best 22 in our side. Not sure how that’s even debatable. Who on earth is playing over him? He has been by far our best winger this year.
Well you can’t gift games to a player who played like he did yesterday. If Gaff played like that you would want him delisted mid season. You just making excuses cos he pick 14 and he young

It’s time for a reset mostly and to understand he isn’t a winger. For this season I’d run with Hunt/Ginbey/Petch/Gaff and then maybe look to give Dewar/Brockman/Burgiel/Hewett some time too as the season progresses

Next year we need to be very much in for a winger and if we want and get Baker, one on the cheap. Dozens of wingers who would be in our best 22. We basically need to find our Jeremy Sharp

Yeah but that's because the team sucks. Would he actually be playing in a top 10 side? Will he be in the team when they're back in the top 8?

Gaff got 3 possies earlier this season
