Of course he's GOAT, I even think he's better than Rance and the equal of Scarlett imo.

But in today's game gorilla KPDs get eaten alive.

Glass changed his game up by the end of his career, was capable of playing on smaller players and let EMac and others take the bigger forwards

Disagree with you on Glass. As a defender he was the best of his time, quick on the lead and unbelievably strong in 1v1s. Scarlett gets him as he was more attacking but Glass wasn’t gifted that way and knew to play within his means with the ball.

His early body work against these big gorillas would mean they wouldn’t get a run and jump at the ball or get a lead in.

Walk up start in any team today and good chance at AA come seasons end.

I dunno the only weakness of Glass was his kicking imo. He was a decent size for a key position player but was extremely strong where he would regularly go toe to toe against much bigger forwards and beat em out. He was also had decent pace and agility where he was playing on small especially towards the back end of his career. He’d still be a very handy player these days.

Congratulations on your retirement, Glass. Will go down as one of West Coast's all time greats.

Our backline won't be the same without you.

I was shattered when I heard the news.

I respect the disagreements, I can accept my opinion is a minority one.

Even if you believe Glass would be a complete liability ball in hand in modern footy, his versatility and quality as a defender would still be invaluable.

What he did have was an out and out hunger for the contests and he hated being beaten one on one.

That competitive desire and raw fire to beat your direct opponent no matter what.

Is something that you are either born with or not.

It’s not something that can be taught.

Raw aggression and dire to win can overcome a lack of talent.

Glass squeezed every ounce of creativity and production out of himself, players such as he are the salt of every Club.

100% this. There's a reason Glassy only kicked 8 (off the top of my head) goals in his career.

Brilliant everywhere else though

I would have thought that there wouldn't be too many full backs (don't count swing men as Glass was never swung forward) that would have kicked many more than 8. I'm actually surprised that Glass kicked any as I can't remember one and I reckon I saw 99% of his games played.

Poor Rotham doesn’t even get a thread to himself. The bloke finishes up and we repurpose it for Glass chat

TBF Brander's thread ended up being a cricket chat. At least Josh's is remaining in the same sport.

I can recall two. One against Sydney around 03/04 where he got a double 50m penalty which put him about 15m out. The other against the Bulldogs at home in 2006, a game we actually lost.

Haha the one vs Sydney was when Hall absolutely lost his mind. Good times. Big cheer as he walked ape-like back to Sydney's forward line.

Tbf the West wrote a farewell article with his top 5 moments ad he was a retiring/leaving gun player.

Probably the easiest top 5 moments as he’s probably only had like 5 good moments in his career
