AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Never thought I'd see the day where Cam Luke would understand footy better than the "football experts".
He explains it better than any footy journalist - and more importantly - rationally.
No no no. There should be no finals, grand finals or even ladder. Every team gets a participation cup and every player a participation medal at the end of the year. Don't show scores during games eitherPlay a round Robin comp and award a club a flag every 18 years
Jealousy. We dominated the comp now we're going to be stacked again. We're just a better run club than most. Sucks to be them. The mental gymnastics of salty opposition supporters is a marvel to behold
"Richmond's list is full of spuds, they're no good" but also..
"How are they keeping under the salary cap and able to pay all their players?"
"Taranto and Hopper are B graders and won't be any good. Hawthorn's TMitch and O'Meara mach II" but also..
"Taranto and Hopper are stars, 4 first round picks minimum"
I've also had a gut full of hearing that Cotchin and Riewoldt are on their last legs and need to retire
I never hear this about Dangerwood, Selwood and Hawkins.. or Pendles and Sidebottom. Our list has a very healthy age profile
It’s just typical of these socialist types. All they care about is equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity….
The problem is, you can never have equality or outcome… and if we did, how stupid would the competition be?
Play a round Robin comp and award a club a flag every 18 years?
The only part, which I legitimately feel bad about is that these newer and smaller clubs don’t get nice big games in front of home fans.
But the positive for them is lesser pressure and spotlight too….
So you could argue with an equal salary cap, equal list sizes, soft cap, pros and cons of being a big club that it’s all a pretty even opportunity comp.
Equality of outcome? No thanks
I resent this, being a socialist - of the unreconstructed variety! We want to crush the bourgeoisie (Melbourne, Hawthorn and Carlton in particular). Geelong also need to be crushed because of all the Western Districts, Geelong Grammar scum on their list. The only equality of outcome I want is a utopia where everyone gets free Netflix, Richmond wins every final and Sam Newman is guilloutined as pre-match entertainment for one of the Grannies. It’s just typical of these socialist types. Random pro capitalism melt
Probably wanted to be the one getting reamedShe has never recovered from the reaming we gave the power rangers in 2017
Did they have the rest of our midfield? No. So therefore it is a moot point. I am suggesting that adding these two into our midfield will make us unstoppable. So GWS therefore must have been unstoppable?
i don't think you are being hard enough...I resent this, being a socialist - of the unreconstructed variety! We want to crush the bourgeoisie (Melbourne, Hawthorn and Carlton in particular). not offended, but i'm not sure any actual socialists are for equal outcome, more so equal opportunity if anythingLol the types who promote equality of outcome above all else as the rest of my post went through
Sorry if the rest of the socialists were offended by this. You know the type lol
The ones who have an inability to perceive second order effects. The ones with ruinous detrimental empathy. Genocidal tendencies Those ones lol
These two will be handy but they are both injury prone. I hope we aren't paying them overs.
And if more than one club is interested. As is the case with both players you are in a bidding war. They might take unders cos your club has a better culture or whatever but it's not gonna be much. Kane's just sad cos Kochie has financially stripped his tinpot club. What the media muppets like Karen Cornes don’t understand is when trying to secure players like this you’ve got 2 x choices :
1. Pay $4.25m for 5-years (850k per season)
2. Pay $5m for 7-years.
So you effectively get an extra 2-years each for $750k a piece.
These fools think it’s a choice between $3.75m for 5-years or $5m for 7-years.
They are not coming for $3.75m over 5-years when TT in particular could get $3.25m from GWS.
You can disagree with us paying it etc… but the lack of understanding of how it all works from experienced media heads is worrying.

Hopper missed 14 games this year with knee surgery and Taranto missed 11 games in 2020 and 6 this year.Injury prone? Where has this myth started?
Hopper played 10 and 13 games in his first 2 years, I’m not sure if injury or just a 1st and 2nd year player not making the team considering how good GWS were in 16 & 17.
After that he missed 6 games in 4 years until this year when he only played 7 games.
Taranto played 14 games in year 1 (2017). After that played every game in 2018 & 2019, missed 6 games in 2020, every game in 2021 and missed 6 this year.
So hopper has played 82% of games and Taranto has played 88% in last 5 years. And most of those misses were this year.
Ah no, there were only 17 games in 2020.Hopper missed 14 games this year with knee surgery and Taranto missed 11 games in 2020 and 6 this year.
She played for Collingwood.Thats Georgie Parker who goes for the Crows and I still massively offended about 2017,she posts regularly about us so much everyone knows we live rent free
Played is a loose term. More like made up the numbersShe played for Collingwood.
Hmmmm and Prestia is made of biscuits.Hopper missed 14 games this year with knee surgery and Taranto missed 11 games in 2020 and 6 this year.
I think the biggest concern with these long ass contracts are the players get comfortable and their output isn’t the same for whole 7 yearsWhat the media muppets like Karen Cornes don’t understand is when trying to secure players like this you’ve got 2 x choices :

Between Hopper/Taranto/Prestia and Cotchin we should always have 2 mids on the park hopefully.Hmmmm and Prestia is made of biscuits.

That's a pretty good assessment of our best 22, although Broad comes onto the bench for Graham who is 1st in for injuries, what is exciting for us is the depth that the acquisition of TT & Hopper bring. We'll have Graham, Sonsie, Gibcus, Ross and HRS as the 1st 5 to come in for injuries.Huge get by you guys if it eventuates. Scary looking 22 next season.
B Grimes Balta Vlaustin
HB Short Tarrant D.Rioli
C Mclntosh Hopper Pickett
HF Martin Lynch Bolton
F M.Rioli Riewoldt Cumberland
FOLL Nankervis Taranto Prestia
I/C- Baker, Cotchin, Graham, Miller
Would look at moving on Soldo and Castanga in the deal for the duo.
