Could be a real sliding doors moment for us if Phillips works out. Suddenly next year we have him, Blanck back, McCabe, DGB and Serong who could all be key defenders, and who are all under 25.

Sounds like after he got overlooked in his draft year he focused on his career and uni and only after uni started taking footy more seriously again

Good back up, but I can't see us deviating too much from the established players Rd 1. Hope he can show something! A solid key defender for nothing would be a dream come true.
Given death of kpd across the league (and high demand) it’s interesting he wasn’t picked up until now.
At same time we got Blanck in 2nd round of MSD and he played afl a few weeks later and 8-9 games in his first year (albeit we were possibly in more a development phase) - so not without a chance of playing games this year.

In the article by Josh Gabelich, it says the Hawks will complete the signing on Monday. That's when we will get the official announcement as it can't be lodged over the weekend I believe
