I couldn't have summed him up better than what he has done there.
The way he was throwing Cats players off him who tried to tackle him….at 20yrs old, I can only imagine what he’s doing in another 2 years.

I genuinely love to hear Bucks talk footy, he's a great communicator and this description of why he loves Newk couldn't be better.

He's got the same ability to clearly and concisely explain football that Sam has.
I listen to the sen podcasts while I work.

Bucks has been marvellous since joining them, his footy knowledge is outstanding

Heard Jai on SEN with Dwayne yesterday and the thing that impresses me is his calmness ……. nothing phases him. Country kid I guess. Hopefully in pressure situations in big games this Zen attitude will hold him in good stead. Also said that he wants to be known more than just being a good tackler and hard at it and is working hard on learning the midfield craft and other areas. He’s very close with Sammy.

He's been a breath of fresh air on Fox Footy.

Thank god he didn't go to Seven - where all good and bad commentators go to die.

Totally agree, Bucks is head and shoulders above all else in the footy media. He is excellent.

this is one of my favourite Box Hill Videos showing the list management and recruiting for VFL and VFLW, at 6:07 he talks about Jai Newcombe and How in the pre-season of 2021 Sam says to the list manager we have a problem with the midfield depth and the list manager says "whats that" and Sam says "i'm picking Jai, Jai's flying"...

He'd poop his pants if he realized how he got into the Box Hill team, and how little VFL he'd played before being drafted too.

But great to hear his insight into what makes a good AFL player. I'd imagined that low anxiety types are important in sport, never dreamed it would be that big an emphasis on that here.

I guess high anxiety types are probably OK to be big forwards and backs maybe (Plugger, Scarlett, Brereton).

Doesn't sound like they make great midfielders though in the current game, or at least, not great endurance athletes.

I feel like he was referring to calm and composed players when he mentioned low anxiety types. Guys like Pendlebury, Day, Sam Mitchell himself, etc.

Yep. He's the best out there.

The best thing Collingwood have done for the footballing community was sacking him, so he could go back into the media.

I was thinking about the last Hawthorn player from Poowong, Rudi Mandemaker, and how he was traded to Centrals as part of the deal to get John Platten. Platts wore 44 and now Jai wears 44. The circle of life.
Could kick a goal too, could Rudi.
