Like him. Let him play until at least Rioli comes back.

Agreed. Game time will only help and expect he is the kind of kid that if he sees opportunity, will have a huge pre-season and work on his endurance and disposal.

At this point I can’t really compare him to aby previous player. He does though appear to be a little bit special, here hoping he goes on with it...

Almost looks like a young Max Rooke, with better explosiveness/athleticism to me.

I hated Rooke though, while I love the look of Worpel so far. Get him a sit down with Sewelly's kicking coach, and if he improves half as much it will be enough.

People already underrating Sewell a bit I feel. He was a shite kick. But he was a contested monster, with insane evasiveness in close. If Worpel can get to that level, look out - he's a bigger frame, with a big kick and a lot more toe.

I thought when he had an opportunity to impact a contest, even though his opportunities were limited he did a good job.

Backed himself in a couple of times and got caught but I’d rather that than a guy playing safe.

Goes hard when he gets a chance and can only improve with more game time. Hope he keeps getting more opportunities.

When the goals are in front of him, there is nothing wrong with his kick.

I liked his 4 quarter effort on the weekend against the Lions. One who was still going late in the game.

From what i have seen at Training/Box Hill and now Seniors his lack of kicking skills have been seriously overstated.

Looks more then a capable kick.

This guy will end up one of the steals of the draft i reckon.

2012 away game at SCG.

Sewell says up yours at “you’re a shit kick”

(It actually kind of seemed like a bit of a fluke...)

I think the knock on him was maybe a little more about composure and decision thing than actually kicking.

Remember reading after we drafted him that he'd get the ball in traffic, put on the jets to get clear and rather than lower his eyes , pick a target and execute, he was prone to just hacking it long.

Early 2017 Worpel was being talked about as a top 5 pick. I’ll find the quote. Edit: Failed to find it but it is out there.
Pre draft the word was his kicking was a little dodgy and so he slid down to us at pick 45.

Fact: I have only seen Worps kick the ball well. Excellent short passes under pressure and a nice snap. I think he is A Good Kick of the pill.

I don’t know who started the rumour but brilliant job. There was no way the the Hawks could have snagged him without your smoke and mirrors.

I read this view also, and his kicking is better than I anticipated. I was have also been pleased to see him keep calm when tackled and make sure the ball gets to a team mate.

i can honestly say I am glad the club took a chance on him, and I think he seems to have the qualities that make a genuine “team first” footballer. Good luck to him!!

Jimmy Bartel is a huge fan and is bemused at why he went so late.
The old grapevine can be a killer for prospective kids.

The slipping I am sure was also based on an assessment of his endurance. Read somewhere he came last in one of our time trials, which is not great for a mid.

Happened to mention it to a kathoey, (or lady boy as they are known outside Thailand,) who I believe had a relationship with a former AFL Premiership player and coach, who has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, recently.:);):rainbow:

One of my favourite parts about Sewell. If he can't get around you he always had the back up plan to just run right through you.

What I loved most about Sewell was his ability to grab the contested ball and get a quick handpass off to a player in space even with two or three blokes hanging off him.

As long as he’s hacking it long to a 1-on-3 contest then he fits right into our current plan!
