"It wasn't necessarily living in South Australia, it's more the club I'm playing for."

"Port's so deep in tradition, I'm pretty sure they're one of the oldest clubs around, 150-odd years"

"Their fans really care. That was the most important thing for me when going to a club, I want to play for a team where the fans care"

I'm so impressed by this fine young chap. He already gets us and is well and truly one of us, and he'll be one that will try and do us supporters proud.

In terms of supporter engagement replacing Dixon with Moraes is about the footy equivalent of replacing Dan Stewart with Buddy Franklin

The Hawks had made out that they would take him, but didnt. SO I think they had prepared themselves that he was going to Hawthorn. Werent impressed that they left him at the alter, I think.
Hawthorn took Mraz at 35 while we took Whitlock at 33. We both passed on Moraes with those picks for players we didn’t expect to be there.

There has to be more to it than that.

Given the existing connection, Hawthorn had probably told him they would take him with their first pick then didn't.

Hawthorn tried to get him as an nga for his Brazilian heritage but he didn't qualify.

We really drafted some kids who seem genuinely nice and excited to be at the club. They should add some enthusiasm to the pre season.

Wouldn't be surprised if Port have a psych do a little work on him. Get that inclination to be perhaps a little too self critical out of his head?

Noticed he was playing basketball at a reasonable level before switching is focus to football. Av 30 points a game and 12 plus rebounds. You don't do that without having serious moves?

I went over the highlights again.

He doesn't have the traditional midfield speed, the boot or the clearance work but he cares, is a massive runner, is excellent with link up play and has a very good footy IQ.

I think he use to play basketball and he has a bit of that point guard, distributor way about him that would actually really complement our guns in the midfield and get them the ball in the right places and help with one twos and general flow on offence.

I would love him to get some muscle on him and really attack the clearance part of his game and run hard defensively as well.

A very interesting watch.

Already love this kid's attitude. Will be a fan favourite for sure.
I foresee a spot on the wing up for grabs and he could very much fill that spot with his hard running while he builds his frame.
