Not quite that, full explanation below...

Disposals and possessions aren't one and the same. Disposals are just kicks and handballs while possessions are made up of contested and uncontested possessions which can be gained by doing one of the following...

Contested Possessions
Free For
Gather From Hitout
Hard Ball Get
Knock On Contested
Loose Ball Get
Mark Contested

Uncontested Possessions
Free For Off The Ball
Free For Advantage
Gather
Gather From Opposition
Handball Received
Mark Lead
Mark Uncontested

Dale has had 558 disposals, but only 441 possessions with the difference of 117 being accounted for by kick-in play ons which are counted officially as disposals but not as possessions.

Midfielders will more often than not have more possessions than disposals in their tally, this is due to several reasons the main ones being that if they take possession of a ground ball and then get tackled which ends up in a stoppage, they will be credited with the possession but no disposal because it ended up in a stoppage. Another reason is that free kicks are counted as contested possessions regardless of whether the team takes the advantage, so if a player gets a free kick but then another player picks the ball up and takes advantage the initial player getting the free kick will still get credited with a possession.

Macrae has had 646 disposals made up of 310 kicks and 336 handballs, while he's had 664 possessions made up of 246 contested and 418 uncontested. He has taken 0 kick-ins.

Dale has had 558 disposals made up of 392 kicks and 166 handballs, while he's had 441 possessions made up of 99 contested and 342 uncontested. He has taken 121 kick-ins with 117 of them kick-in play ons

Treloar has had 544 disposals made up of 265 kicks and 279 handballs, while he's had 524 possessions made up of 168 contested and 356 uncontested. He has taken 16 kick-ins with 14 of them being kick-in play ons.
Awesome response. Thanks!

Just a reminder that I claimed ED before everyone!
Not before me mate, had plenty on arguments here with certain people, when I suggested the best onballer is one already on our list. I said it after the Melbourne GF loss when he didn't even play, yet had the ability to challenge the very players who beat us on GF day.
Plenty wanted to keep him at half back, not me, I would have moved him two seasons before Bevo did.

Sack Bevo.

A pretty safe prediction but I think Richards will end up with the most midfield minutes of anyone this year (by a decent margin) and either most or a close second to Libba for most CBA's. Going to launch himself into the top tier this year.

AA-bound on your predictions?
Hopefully premiership bound!
