Worth the risk at 46. I was hoping for it and we got it. Wouldn't it just be the best thing ever if the pick we got for Jones gave us mini me boomer.

...without the shit bloke part of course.

I didn't know much about him heading into the draft but he looks the goods in the 3 minute highlight package. Looks like we've drafted footballers (not athletes)! Stoked with this kid, forget the hangers (a bonus), he just looks like he gets the game in a special way. Going to play a lot of footy, but he'll have healthy competition from our other young mids.

No one cares about combine results. If he plays quick, that's all that matters.
Yeah exactly, love that he tested well in endurance though as its obviously something which does carry over to game situations maybe doesn't matter too much in the long run how they tested as nearly everyone can build a solid tank but still its something that will allow him to make an impact in his early years. Rapt that pretty much everyone we brought in has a big endurance base as its obviously something we still struggle with as a team overall.

Yep Jones and Grant notable exceptions!

Not sure if this has been posted earlier (before my post in the media thread). Interview pre Bulldog drafting.

It's a great story, isn't it? Rejected by Dandenong then comes second in the Morrish Medal with Oakleigh off the back of no preseason and tops it all off with getting best on in the grand final.

Really excited about Toby and really pleased for him, too.

Funny how he tested poorly for vertical leap yet he's only 180cm and takes hangers...

Well, if they threw a sherrin in the air near the goal posts....

Probably showing my age again, but does that mark of Toby's remind folks of the famous pic of Merv Hobbs big grab?
While his marking generally in his highlights clip is excellent, what excited me were 2 other bits of play.
The first @ about the 1 min. mark, where he and an opponent are headed for the same ball, and a head on collision at pace. He cooly swats the ball aside, avoids the head on, then collects the ball before continuing on his way.
The second passage [ from memory about the 2 1/2 min mark], where he gathers the ball in the middle of a nest of about 4 opposition players, and gets himself out and into the clear. Left me shaking my head and wondering ... how the #**# did he manage to do that ?
I hope we can pair him up with one of the really driven senior players in our squad to reinforce the need for single minded dedication to training and club. Like a M Boyd, or a Moz...where the hell is a Daniel Cross when you need him ?
If the lad can show that kind of dedication, and keep a good head on his shoulders, I think he could be anything.
Welcome to the Doggies Toby [ and the other new kids too].

The bit I liked was where he worked his opponent under the ball then doubled back to gather and kick a goal. Very Gia-like. I will enjoy watching him do that on a regular basis now that Gia's retired. Could be a very fitting replacement for him.

i'm more impressed he kicked 50 goals for narre warren

lol I was thinking the same and maybe he just knows how to get a lift up, It's not just about how high you can jump it's having the technique to jump onto other blokes backs, time it and catch it. It's a skill in itself and a lot of fun when you pull it off.

I think he went back once this year and kicked something like 8 in 3 quarters of footy.
going up against a decent comp as well and blokes that are way stronger than him.
Glad to see he can hold his own.
