Not bad company there and we must think pretty highly of him to give him that number straight out.
I think we've thrown out the idea of making players earn the early numbers, with Dahlhaus an obvious exception.

I like it, players should wear the same number throughout their career. I hate it when they change.

Did you hate when Johnno changed to 6? :p

I'm kind of torn on it. I wouldn't want to give someone like a Mulligan the number 13 or 14 or similar. But at the same time you could have someone like Bontempelli or Stringer who will own their number.

Johnson swapped his #33 for #6 about 6 months before I was born :p

I don't mind just recycling players through numbers, it's not as if they'll be etched into the locker unless they play 100 games. Recently it seems they've assigned available numbers in order of draft position (although Fuller likely requested 36 last year, seeing as it was his number at Norwood). So it's unlikely a potato man like Mulligan will get a number in that range.

Seeing as #7, #12, #13 and #15 were available before Magic's #16, I'm hoping they haven't organised some mass re-shuffling.

i'm more impressed he kicked 50 goals for narre warren

Narre Warren...Hmmm, unless my memory is playing tricks on me [ and at this hour that's entirely possible], but wasn't NW where Boydy [ this will be confusing for a year or so] Matty hails from ?
If so, would that make him the perfect senior mentor for young Toby.

Correct.

He has to be a gun now so I can still use my 16. Or I could just peel the 1 off I spose.

He also revealed Tom Boyd's number on Twitter and has since deleted it haha, oops

I asked a friend who has the results, he said McLean tested poorly in the sprints and agility testing. Seems strange as he looks very agile at the very least.
Bonti tested poorly in terms of acceleration too - if a player is smart enough to meet the ball with pace, acceleration becomes less of an issue.
MclLan tested well for endurance by all accounts - given his transition from forward pocket to midfielder through the year, we must have him pegged as a midfielder once he's developed.

Bonti moves fairly quickly once he gets the long strides going anyway

At that stage he was 1st for goal assists, 3rd for contested marks in the TAC cup or something like that. Going to put loads of pressure on Dickson and Hunter will have major competition for mark of the year now.
I have him as more of a winger than a small forward

All the smalls can fit and play different roles - McLean can play above his height on a wing/flank, Honeychurch can play as a midfield accumulator and up forward, Hrovat can win the ball and bring teammates into the game, Dahlhaus can do the lot, Daniel seems to be a link player and a good finisher, and who knows how Hunter's untapped talent will be utilised.

Provided the coach and MC recognise their respective strengths and weaknesses, I don't think they'll compete with each other for spots on the basis of their height. The centimeters we give up will be made up for with quality ball use - not that we'll be too short if Macrae, Bontempelli and Jong are around.

just watched the tac cup GF for which T mac was awarded best on ground.

Really lifted Oakleigh in the 2nd quarter when he moved on the ball. He closes down space quickly defensively and was classy with ball in hand. really nice marking and kicking in this game and pretty much just hurt them where ever he went. Wasn't a great game to be a small forward so just as well he moved up the ground and made an impact.
