You are correct if Cloke stays someone has to go.If Melbourne dont want to come to the party you can be assured plenty of other clubs will.
Generally clubs don't play hardball if an uncontracted player is squeezed out due to salary cap restraints. It's a totally different scenario to the "go home" factor like Caddy, who nominates a club.

Melbourne will come to the party and, in fact, we already have a contract tabled to his manager. How and what we give in trade is another matter altogether but the feel is that it will be a straight swap for Martin, although we have to remember that Stef is still under contract and whatever he is on may not fit under the Pies salary cap if someone like Wellingham is squeezed out.

I think you will find Collingwood will want a second round pick as well.

I think you'll find that the club will laugh in your face. He is uncontracted and, if he likes our contract offer, he will want to come here. You either take what we think is fair or he goes into the PSD where the other two clubs can have a crack at him if they want or he comes to us for nothing. Simple as that. Collingwood won't be as dumb as you and find that a swap of Martin would be more than enough to get it over the line.

I think you will find Collingwood arent in the best position to bargain. our 2nd round pick could be used on viney so unless we trade for another 2nd round pick you will get a 3rd rounder at best, if at all

True but plenty of clubs will want Wellers on their list and will offer up appropriate renumeration.

We hold the upper hand here

There will be no 2nd round pick involved.

Eddie will take our offer as his ego won't let the pies lose Cloke to Carlton

Viney will cost a first round.

Says who? You? I think you'll find there is a better chance he falls to our second rounder than going at Pick #3.

Nor is Collingwood or Wellingham as dumb as you to think that your club will be the only offer.

David Cloke has taken your club to the cleaners

His greed will either cost you Wellingham or Travis Cloke

Not sure if there is any down side on our end

You want Stef Martin (who is under contract)

Doesn't leave you guys much you room to move in my opinion

Any club can offer their first round pick for Viney. Melbourne has to match it if they want him.
you're a spud, only GC and GWS can outbid us on 1st round.

Wrong

Only GWS and Gold Coast can force us to use our 1st rounder :D:D

Bye Bye. I think we've had enough of your stupidity.

Only GCS or GWS can force us to use our early pick after that it will go to our second round pick, but they risk losing that pick and getting Viney which is not what they want. Viney is ranked about 7-8 in the draft. If Melbourne let them take Viney GCS they lose Toumpas who is the likely no. 2 pick. As crazy as Sheedy is, he won't bid on Viney when Whitfield is on the table.

FOR every nominated father-son player, each club in the competition has the option to bid for the player, in reverse ladder order. If a bid is made, the club that nominated the father-son player must use its next available selection if it wishes to retain its hold on that player.

If the club nominating the father-son player declines to match the selection nominated, the club with the successful bid must use that selection at the draft on that player.

Any club that makes a successful bid on a father-son selection is bound to use the pick they nominate.

If no bid is made by another club, the club that nominated the father-son eligible player will forfeit its last selection in the draft to select the player. From the AFL website

No other club besides GC or GWS can force us to use our regular first round pick (3) on Viney. Every man and his dog knows that. It's pretty clear what posters have been saying.

Time for you to hop along now or get the night off.

Read this and then leave:

The only pick that we can use on Viney is Pick #3. Pick #4 and #13 are NOT counted as they are COMPENSATION picks for Tom Scully. They are not eligible to be used under the F/S. 99% of the football world knows this. Our next live selection is the second rounder after Pick #3.

Therefore if GWS and GC do not bid on Viney we will take him in the second round no matter who else bids on him. You idiot.

Our next available selection would be our second round pick if any club aside from GCS or GWS bid. For example if the Bulldogs bid on Viney that would be after our first picks have been used and therefore our next available pick after their initial pick would be our second rounder. If either GWS or GCS bid on Viney we would be forced to use our first rounder as it is our first available after their first picks.
