West Coast or Adelaide - Who is better placed?

Anyone who watched the last clash between the two sides should know the answer to this question already. When the crows play disciplined football and their midfield fires, they win. When that slips and our defence has to do anything, the eagles' forwards beat us comfortably.

Until the crows' defence improves somewhat, the eagles will win. Fortunately, the crows' defence will only get better. West Coast's midfield still leaves a lot to be desired.

You certainly missed Shuey in the midfield comparisons.

2nd half of last season looked like he had finally developed that "who gives a shit I'm getting the ball attitude" He was seriously good.

Yep , averaging the following stats for the last 7 games-

27 Disposals
5 Tackles
5 Inside 50's
7 Clearances
And 1 Goal per game

Challenge now is to do it for a full season, which is something he's struggled to do through injury/maturity.

Eagles will do better this year, Crows have a new coach it will take most of the season to build relationships and learn the new game plan and structures. We experienced this last year and just started to get it together at the end of the season, we should carry that form into this season.

Some pretty easy wins to finish 2014 for us. Wouldn't read too much into anyone's stats for that period.

He had good games against Hawthorn and Port Adelaide as well, but towards the end of the year was the only time he had any consistency.

It's kind of the way I see it but you never know what's going to happen.

West coast is far better placed in the sense that its in perth and i like perth loads better than radelaide

Adelaide are far better placed in that their stadium isnt a povvo relic of a dump that should have been condemned 20 years ago

So imma call it even

Anyone who thinks that Adelaide are better placed than West Coast is kidding themselves.

Remember that Adelaide lost the following and got nothing in return:

- 2x first round draft picks
- 2x second round draft picks
- Kurt Tippett

When you also take into account they lost Jack Gunston for a packet of chips, and the fact that one of, if not both Dangerfield and Sloane have one foot out the door already, the future looks bleak for the Crows.

They haven't even began to feel the pinch of their draft sanctions, and we won't see the effect of these sanctions until the draft classes of 2012 and 2013 begin to really hit their straps.

Jury is still out on the young players WCE picked in those two drafts, but before that their drafting since the 2006 flag was abysmal.

They are probably in a similar position in Carlton in that footballer Bermuda triangle, its hard to gauge what their medium - long term future is, with their unproven (but talented) young players

Doesn't follow. It is not unknown for first year coaches to have an immediate impact - see Sanderson in his first year at the Crows (though unable to back it up in subsequent two seasons); Hinkley in his first year at the Power (looks on track to sustain the team's competitiveness at the top of the table).

Essendon with Hird (bottom 4 to top 8)

Neither is ready to challenge for the flag, let's see how they each go over the next two or three draft & trade periods

Adelaide are benefiting from a good draw and are a 11th-14th position side

Lol. Sometimes I think you Adelaide-Port supporters have it all over the West Coast-Freo supporters in terms of rivalry.

Cant really speak to Adelaide but a lot has changed for us this year that sees us very well placed going forward. An A grade mid would pretty much complete us.

Until Freo start winning premierships its a bit of a hollow rivalry for West Coast. A year ago Port nearly levelled the Premiership score with Adelaide, as well as being ahead in the derbies. As a result I think they are a bit more heated towards each other.

Anyway, back on topic, I think West Coast are in a better position than Adelaide. Whilst the Crows are no slouches I just feel that the Eagles have a stronger team on paper, and are better poised over the next 2-3 years to have a shake at the Premiership. Expect both teams to finish somewhere in the 4-7 bracket this year.

FWIW it's obvious that both John Dough and Puddy don't like the Crows, and they probably enjoyed posting those comments - But why let it worry you? Nothing they said was actually that derogatory - I don't agree with Puddy that Adelaide are an 11th - 14th place team, so I better give him shit about Port, right?

...

I post on the Crows board as i have an interest in a few of its players, im no flog or troll and i dont hate the Crows, Im just looking at the facts. Adelaide have beaten a average Collingwood side, have beaten a bunch of crap sides and whenever they come across a half decent side they get thumped.

West Coast are proving they are a top 4 side. Adelaide are proving the case for a equal draw

Port byt 24
GWS by 24

The only game where we have been thumped is the Bulldogs game
