At this point in time it seems obvious that West Coast are in better shape than Adelaide. However, we know that things can turn around quite quickly, for individual players and teams.

AFLW 2024 - Round 9 - Indigenous Round - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Can't say at the moment.
We are adapting too a new system under Walsh while west coast are into their third year with their coach and are finally seeing the reward.
Both teams have some injuries, both teams have some talent.
I do think Adelaide are under performing at the moment, maybe they can improve with more games with the coach, but they haven't been performing as well as they should be for a while now. Just look at the teams:
Walker - Kennedy
Betts - LeCreas
Jenkins - Darling
Lynch - Hill
Cameron - Cripps
Thompson - Priddis
Sloane - Masten
Dangerfield - Shuey
Crouch - Yeo
Crouch - Sheed
Van Berlo - Rosa
Mackay - Gaff
Ellis-Yeomen - Duggan
Jacobs - Naitanui
Talia - McGovern
Laird - Wellingham
I realise the like for likes are not perfect, but the gap doesn't seem to be as wide as it currently is. West Coast have a second ruckman and have much better KPF depth, but midfield and forwardline are pretty close.

Some of those comparisons are pretty off tbh, but it's hard to do.
Adelaide have better top end midfield talent, but i think we have a much better spread of players that rotate through the middle.
Naitanui ~ Priddis ~ Shuey ~ Yeo ~ Gaff ~ Masten ~ Duggan ~ Sheed ~ Rosa ~ Lecras ~ Selwood
Vs
Jacobs ~ Dangerfield ~ Sloane ~ Thompson ~ B.Crouch ~ Douglas ~ Van Berlo ~ Ellis-Yolmen ~ M.Crouch ~ B.Smith ~ ???
I think the Eagles would come out ahead in most match ups bar the A grade mids of Adelaide, with a few close match ups.
Not sure the gap between the two can be explained by lacking a tenth rotation though
Selwood isn't that much to be honest, sometimes his kicking is a liability.

Midfield these days are collective effort
Joel Selwood dominated for 5 years ...now all the stars have left him he's struggling
Sloan ....sorry priddis effectiveness is just as effective as Sloan .....so too gaff
It's about output ...I'm not into all that modern crap like A grade and B grade ....it's media spin
I would take Lecras over betts thanks ......betts can't play midfield ..Lecras can plays big minutes in the middle
West coast easily.
Adelaide will keep sliding. They rely on too few
Really? That's easily their weakest area IMO. Their midfield and forward line are far superior.
That's a fair point, one I hadn't realised.Weakness now.
But find me another backline where pretty much the entire group have played under 50 games.
I think you'll get a much better look at Adelaide next year to be honest. We were in a similar spot last year with simmo as the new coach; it takes time to implement a game plan.
Was surprised by the age demographic of their list- it's very good. Lots of guys in that mid 20's, with a few mature blokes to guide them, and some very good young kids coming though. Similar to west coast actually.
Adelaide's defense is young but solid, their mids are very good, and they have a top forward line as well.
If they don't finish top 6 this year, I expect them too next year, regardless of where Dangerfield finds himself next year.
Then I think a comparison will be much more relevant iMO.
This is a point not spoken about enough.
Especially when you have Reilly (retired) and Pods (not best 22) lifting the average list age, it will go down even more next year.
The age of the best 22 would be even lower.
True dat. Things turned around for the Eagles between rounds three and four.At this point in time it seems obvious that West Coast are in better shape than Adelaide. However, we know that things can turn around quite quickly, for individual players and teams.
Not traditional midfield, but guessing you havent watched too much of the crows this year if you think he cant run through there.
Also with a midfield of Sloane, Thompson, Dangerfield, Crouch, Douglas etc we dont need the best small forward in the game to be playing in the centre square.
He took over in 2013, so technically it's his third yearSecond year.

Which team are you even referring to? Ambiguous post is ambiguousI like the team but the hubris of their supporters is Hawk-ish. Scary ...
