Sincs or Eli for the other spot. I believe Eli would go alright at Subi, but Sincs the better option due to his smarts & creativity

I'm a fan of Eli and think he can make it.

Unless Pierce plays as a key defender it looks like we'll be undersized in defence again, I don't really consider Roberton to be a key defender.

Really odd that neither Lee or Goddard can get a look in when we lose one of our best key defenders in Fisher.

I also don't know how Lonie gets named on field when he is lucky to even be on an extended bench given his form, surely Sinclair deserves to be named at half forward ahead of him.

Reading between the lines, you get the feeling Richo doesn't feel the need for so many talls down back in this day and age with quick movement out of the backline setting up so many scoring opportunities and the ability for a defense to run back and keep their structure after a turnover being a more important attribute than height for a defender. It's hard to argue with at this point in time as well and it is great that we have a coach who is tactically trying to stay ahead of the curve.

Yeah, not sure if I mentioned it in this thread or another but I think it was Adam Kingsley in triple M saying that they are trying to back themselves to kick more goals from rebounds then the opposition kicks from marks, hence the attacking backline.

It's interesting. We've certainly got the commentators excited. My father in law is a Pies man. He was rapt with the Dogs last year. Started going to a number of Dogs games. He's started calling to see if my young boys want to go to Saints games. While there's some poppy love, sure, I'm pretty sure there's a Saints are good to watch element.

He's not an AFL player. Sure it's sad but there's plenty of people who dominate VFL but can't make the step, unfortunately for Minch he is one of them.

If Hickey was injured they would play a ruckman with experience against WCE's, so don't think Pierce plays as the No 1 ruck, but potentially in addition to Hickey, IMO

Richo has shown he doesn't like two tall backmen but if they both can contribute run I think they can work together. Those suggesting we need another tall backman can forget about it.

The game has changed quickly. Unfortunately, that is the nature of Aussie Rules. It develops depending on tactics of coaches and rule changes, often from year to year. Talls are still generally a safe bet but with the way the games going, they'll still need other strings to their bow to succeed (which I reckon Carlisle and Hugh have just quietly. They are not quick but have good footy brains, intercept mark well and can kick the ball).

I am starting to think you might be right. So disappointed for the kid, his best is very good but he just can't put it together consistently at the top level.
He gives us something different which we need as well.
