I really don't think any defender plays on a specific forward anymore.

The key forwards rotate through positions around the Defenders defend space and therefore who ever happens to be in that space at the time.

Webster v Patton anyone.

Lets say notionally Gilbert/Kennedy and Dempster/Darling which then only leaves Roberton as a possible match up for Lycett/Natanui.

Hope its not a day for marking forwards.

Its almost as if aussie rules is a fluid game where positions change rapidly and starting positions can mean little immediately after the ball up.. dropping or resting back doesnt always mean a devoted one on one match up you know.

Your post is a perfect example of being pedantic. You latch on to one term that may or may not mean exactly what you want it to and then proceed to debate me on how wrong I am based on that.

It's nothing to do with being wrong. I answered in good faith that you wanted to rest a ruckman back and said it doesn't work. Had you said a kick behind play I wouldn't have commented

So in other words, your issue with the post was the term used?

Now I hate to be pedantic...

..but obviously you don't.

I thought Minch was left wanting in some big moments last week. Probably why he's out.

Best free kick team vs worst free kick team. This could be nasty.

This is a myth. WCE 157 for; 154 against. St Kilda 122 for; 133 against. Worst proportional free kick team is Adelaide 128 for; 144 against. Best placed is (clue: Don Pyke would guess this) Western Bulldogs 167 for; 100 against.

Maybe so far this year, but it is certainly not a myth when you consider the last 5 or even 10 years.

Thanks for providing your own stats to counter mine. Oh, you didnt, just called it "certainly" as a means of proof.
Here you go:

Yep, it is a big myth that West Coast get no arm chair ride from the umpires. I mean you don't have to go back far to see the last time the Eagles lost a free kick count over an entire season. In fact it happened as recently as 2001.

Statistically there is a 0.006% a team can win the free kick count 14 years in a row, so really it is very possible indeed. Geez, I just don't know how people come up with this nonsense.

Anyway, the data actually stops at 1997, but 2001 was the only year you guys lost the free kick count. Let me repeat that again for you, YOU HAVE LOST THE FREE KICK COUNT 1 TIME IN THE LAST 18 YEARS WHERE DATA IS AVAILABLE!!!!!!!!!
