Can anyone please explain to me the point of this article? Surely this gets gibberish of the week? It's utter garbage from a journo you usually tries a bit harder than that.
"If Tom's worth lots now, what will he be worth when he's at his peak? Should he have received a nomination on the day he was traded to the Dogs? Do the Dogs really need this nomination to validate their decision? Also, Bontempelli > Taylor".

What a mess.

I suppose Jesse Hogan should've received a premature nomination when Melbourne re-signed him for 3 years on 500 large before he'd even crossed a white line.

It's really a nothing article.

Okay, so Boyd won a nomination. If he had played 2 more games for GWS he wouldn't be eligible. But he's a second year player with less than 11 first-year games so he is... and there's been a few of them who have won/done well in that regard (In 2012 Wallis was 3rd as a second year player for example). It's also not utterly surprising that at some point Boyd would get a nomination this season., he is the number 1 draft pick from two years ago after all.

Okay, so Boyd is getting paid a million from next year onwards, and is on a draftee salary this year. This doesn't provide any different angle or insight into his contract.

It's not quite the negative stuff that we get dealt a lot, but it really is a nothing article with no premise, no unique viewpoint, nothing.

Tom Boyd on SEN earlier

Anything interesting?

I didn't get to hear all of it, and a large percentage of it JB and Billy were arguing about Indiana Jones v James Bond....

Wood said that he'd been given licence to attack the footy from LB and had always hoped he had this sort of form in him, had just been unable to do the work both in pre-season and during the season due to injury. The whole sides confidence was up on the back of their good form and morale was high. He and Murphy got along really well, although they had some differences of opinion with regards to music.

That was about all I got...

Except that JB is a Bond fan and Billy loves Indiana - which is clearly far more important...

Hahaha I honestly do not know how the footy show is still on air. Do people actually still watch it? Sam Newman is nothing but a glorified sexist and homophobic bully. The levels of cheap low ball humour those monkeys resort to is disgusting.

I guess I'll ask the question that needs to be asked.

They settled on Indy, right?!

Don't enable them Igloo.

And of course it was Indy. Dude has a whip.

Just another reason to dislike Brayshaw.

Hrovat was just on SEN and represented himsf and our club like a champion... Hopefully someone can post a link when available because it was a great little chat....
Hope he makes it because he's a seriously impressive kid who oozes leadership, not to mention that he's extremely popular in the group.

I must admit I'm a fence sitter on his footy future but as you mention above there's a lot more to the kid and hearing him this morning gave me a good deal of confidence...

... and Jack Macrae on RSN 927 this morning. Also was a good interview. I have noticed a lot of players/coaches doing media in the last week - Hrovat, Macrae, Easton Wood a the Sunday Footy Sho, Gia on AFL Gameday, Bevo on 3AW ... and I'm sure I would have missed some.

Perhaps the club is looking for a big marketing push on memberships trying to get us over the 35,000 before they stop counting them?

Good to see.

AFL.com midseason report card

What's worked

Luke Beveridge's 'fast footy' game plan has been embraced by the players and seen the Dogs' performances improve dramatically. The rookie coach has seen his team find the right balance between defence and attack. Robert Murphy's appointment as skipper was an inspired choice, with the 32-year-old's love of the game and club spreading quickly throughout his young team. Jordan Roughead's move from the backline to ruck and Liam Picken's transformation from dour tagger to attacking midfielder have also been telling. Big-money recruit Tom Boyd and 2014 draftees Lukas Webb, Bailey Dale and Toby McLean have all impressed.

What hasn't

Coming from such a low base in 2014, the Dogs haven't had too many things go wrong. Ayce Cordy was preferred to Will Minson in the ruck for six weeks, but failed to take his chances. The only thing that would frustrate supporters has been the Dogs' inability beat sides below them (St Kilda and Melbourne) while knocking off most of the top eight sides.

Story of the season

With many pundits predicting another bottom four finish, the Bulldogs' early season resurgence captured the imagination of the competition. While they've tapered off a touch in the past month, the young Dogs (the AFL's third youngest list) are playing a much better balanced and far more attractive brand of footy than they did under Brendan McCartney.

Best win

Pitted against a hardened and in-form Swans outfit on a soggy SCG in round five, the Dogs pulled off the upset of the season. The young pups found themselves behind on the scoreboard numerous times, but fought back to record a memorable four-point win.

Best individual performance

It's hard to go past Liam Picken's 33 possessions (17 contested) and 11 tackles in the win over the Swans.

Brownlow leader

Hard to split Robert Murphy and Easton Wood, both of whom have been nearly impenetrable across half-back.

The revelation

Injuries have stymied his progress in recent years, but Wood is now one of the league's best rebounding defenders. He's second in the competition for intercept marks and third for intercept possessions.

The missing

A season-ending knee injury to reigning best and fairest Tom Liberatore in the NAB Challenge was a savage blow to a side looking to regenerate after a tumultuous off-season. And in one of the most heartbreaking stories of 2015, youngster Clay Smith tore his ACL in right knee for third time in two years in round six.

Worst performance

The round eight capitulation to Melbourne was a day of disgrace for the Dogs. Listless for most of the match, the Bulldogs never really got going and the Demons ran out 39-point winners.

Mark of the year Easton Wood, R10 v Port Adelaide

Goal of the year Jake Stringer, R12 v Brisbane Lions

Three games that shape the season

R13, St Kilda, Etihad Stadium
R14, Carlton, Etihad Stadium
R15, Gold Coast, Cazaly Stadium

Not sure how we can be 7.5 when many tipped us to be last..

It is better than that moron Gillo's C+ that he handed out in his mid season report card thread on the main board. Found his way onto my ignore list as a result.

7.5 is about right I think. Exceeded all expectations and should have won 1 or 2 more.
