I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

People put too much emphasis on wording. For mine I would completely expect any kid in the draft to prefer to stay home but a preference is not an absolute.

Boys were making a hell of a lot more noise last year about not wanting to leave Victoria and for a longer period of time.
Ginbey was a Freo nuffy and openly stated it in an interview. I’m sure he would have “preferred” to go there over their direct rivals too but Freo’s first pick was a 3rd rounder.

It just so happens that Reid’s “preference” has a much larger chance of happening (and could have happened multiple times throughout the year) so of course he’s going to want to stay in Vic if he can.

Is Reid a similar player to JHF? Watching Reid's highlights he seems to have some of the same attributes to JHF. Strong mark, strong body, not lightning quick but quick enough to get out of trouble, good at the contest etc

Slower, a better contested mark, is more creative by hand & a better accumulator than Fatso Francis.

Unfortunately some of North's fans apparently still power their homes with gas

Surely Melbourne will be reassessing their list realising they really need a KPF and start to replace the May/Lever KPD stocks. I cannot see Harley as a player of need, more that of greed.

O'Sullivan at 5 and possibly Murphy at 13 (I rate him higher) would be a great start and they still have pick 24 and 32 (assuming they will pass a role player or the Grundy pick for McAdams).

Their best bet is to trade for a KPF. Or alternatively they have always seemed a club of softclocks so Archer Reid as a KPF might be the match-maker pick at 24. They have JvR and Jefferson developing so no need for Caddy. They need a 198 cm + target.

So without any major trades, the only Godfather offer can come from Norf with their current and possibly gifted picks or Doggies if they trade out Naughton or English as part of the offer to us along with 10 and 17.

The best Harley's are found in blue and yellow. He is looking west

Definitely think Eagles should take Reid at pick 1 but with new 3 year deals for top 20 been confirmed to player managers last Thursday, Harley’s manager has passed on once again that Harley sees his future in Victoria but understands how the draft works and will give his all if drafted by Eaglet. His club of choice is Melbourne if he got his wish but can’t see how they could possibly satisfy Eagles with trade unless included first round picks and maybe Pickett or Van Rooyen. Still think Eagles should draft Harley at 1 and hope it turns out as good as drafting Judd did even if he eventually wants to go back to Victoria I’m sure you will get a great package if he turns out to be the player that is being predicted. Also have heard North isn’t keen on meeting what the Eagles would demand if they were to trade for pick 1 and at this stage they are seeing more value in multiple first round players than just Harley.

Cal Twomey posed an interesting scenario which I’d be pretty satisfied with, I’m all for drafting Reid but imo 2x quality players>> 1 quality player

North trade pick 3 to the giants for pick 6 and 15 (currently) then trade pick 6 and 2 to west coast for pick 1.
Eagles get 2 and 6
Giants get 3
North get 1 and 15 and have 14 from port already

So that would mean...
1: Reid (NM)
2: Walter (GC)
3: McKercher (WCE)
4: Duursma? (GWS)
5: Watson (Haw)
6: Curtin (WCE)

My absolute ideal scenario would be to somehow end up with both Reid and McKercher whether that would be nabbing gc pick 4 if we think McKercher would be there at pick 4

Pickett, van rooyen, pick 5, pick 13 and next years first for pick 1.

If the dees are desperate then they overpay for him

Right, so you heard some gossip on Big Footy and picked which parts you think are true, and you're passing them off as fact. I bet you read New Idea

Take it how ever you like but let’s see what comes out over the next few days. Not sure what upset you or do I really care but as I said I’d draft Harley if I had pick 1 but his preference is to stay in Victoria and if he could play anywhere it would be Melbourne. I’m sure it’s every kids preference to stay in their home state so nothing new there and they’d all have a preferred club to be drafted to. It’s just going to come down to what the Eagles think will be best for them long term, cash in now or draft and hope he loves WA and if he doesn’t trade him in 3 years and hope he’s worth more than what you’d get now.

Thanks for your information I have passed this on to Toddy Nisbett.

We will be certain to take this into account as we finalise our draft position.

Im personally very disappointed but can understand Harleys point of view. Tomorrow the Eagles will announce our willingness to trade pick 1 for multiple 2nd and 3rd round picks and draft West Australian players only.

Bro, you're trying to say you have inside information on multiple clubs. That's just laughable. It's like you're an old lady believing gossip on the internet. I'll leave you to your feminine energy.
Good one. I reckon people involved with player management companies know as much as anyone and my info might be a fantasy that I’ve just made up but we will see what comes out in regards to Harley over the next few days.

I'm comfortable that even if his preference is Victoria now, that'll change when he moves over. Bit of local talent, top weather, well run a club, good history of retention etc.

Kids at 18 don't know what they want, let's be honest haha.

Reid is unlikely to ever be worth more than he is now. Infact he’s probably going to be worth significantly less.

Players have the power to choose where they go, and the receiving club has little incentive to ever pay more than the minimum they can.

And that’s assuming he’s a gun without injury troubles.

What's the source of this information? Is it his manager saying this or is it his uncle who wants to manage him saying this again? Because his actual manager never said anything like this.

Like you said, every kid has a preference, so what's the difference - and sure, where there's smoke there's often fire, so maybe there is some truth in harley leveraging himself to stay in VIC. I think proof will be in the pudding - if WC trade pick 1 for anything less than an exceptional offer, it's likely he's been adamant he won't stay.

You are still suffering from Horne-Francitis syndrome I think.
