Both the Barhams and Furrigia will not be there in 2009. Maybe Shrpe and Duff-Tyler as well. May be re-building time for Gissy.

4 flags in the last 7 years is impressive. And would make them the superior team of this milennium in the BFL. But if you want to list another team please I would like to hear it.
And I maybe wrong but when players leave, clubs are then allowed to recruit more. Crazy but true!!!
All due respects to Derrick Filo, he has never been on the Strathfieldsaye radar. Isn't amazing how much bullsh*t and inuendo can be made up on here ??

Correct - E/Hawk the superior team in the last 2 years Gisborne the superior team this Millinnium. Surperior for the Millinnium is a great result.

Really? 97, 98 and 99 we won 3 row. Do some research. Then we came to the BFL and become the superior team since joining. But good luck next year - you still need 2 more to catch us!!

so gisborne average 1 flag per 2 years not bad
and e/hawk average bout 1 every 6 or 7 years think gisborne have better stats per time they have been in the league

Well put. Also all E/hawl fans can thank Gisborne for raising the bar when it comes to the level of football they now go and watch. Bendigo was on a downward spiral until the Gisborne lead Mick McGuane brought a standard of football that teams had to get to in order to win a flag.

I watched Derek win Flags at Kynton and the level of football was terrible. Enter Gisborne who said you need to play at a certain level to compete with us. We forced Derek and co to no longer just run around and rack up 400 games like you were playing back yard footy with your brothers and a couple of kids from up the road. 6 Grand Finals in a row and 4 flags was the end result of raising the bar. Lets see if you can make the next 4 Grand Finals and if you manage to do that and then win 2 of them you can compare your team to Gisborne. Otherwise you can pay homage and run along and enjoy the standard set.
Come on lads, time for this dick measuring contest to end. What is the latest news from up Gisborne way. I am hearing clubs from all over victoria are hoping to pick holes in the side and blokes may go left right and centre
KA, as much as i hate to admit it but the facts are Gissy have been the best side consistantly for the past decade results prove that.
Dont forget one of the main reasons the standard of the BFL dropped was due to the introduction of the Diggers/Bendigo Bombers, put a VFL side in Shepparton or Albury/Wodonga and i bet those leagues would suffer also.
But Gissy, especially McGuane, did raise the bar somewhat you are correct.

Looks like a tough 09 for the Bulldogs.....cetainly an end of dynasty.....from what we hear, J Barham is of to Port Adelaide......M Fitz to Strathmore.....O Messoudi to coach Woodend.....S Davis to coach Mounts.......R sharp to Keilor.........J Duff tyler to retire unless Ty Elliot gets the Senior Job............R White to go overseas..........D Farrugia to go to a Southern club to to work........ M Barham to coach somewhere, no 1st grade EDFL jobs are left so maybe Oak Park, Marcus would fit that club well, hope he goes for that job........a new look and young Bulldogs in 09..
Lets hope the club and the coaching selection committee seek out a coach who is just out of the TAC or the VFL who can teach this young inexperianced side, a local who has been away for a while, someone to bring in new ideas to reinvigourate the club both on and off the field. To the committee...dont look within for answers look outside the club, the answer is at the door.......head hunt the coach, hes closer than u think.........and its not me for all those smart asses who will fire bulletts at this
You must have been drinking alot of cans if you believe that the standard has risen since the mid to early 90's. Back in those days Bendigo was in Divion 1 and beating the GV. Playes like Oliver, Muir, Bond,Nolte, Ben Sexton all in their prime. Gisborne deserves every compliment they get, great effort and i have nothing but respect for them. But yor lack of knowledge about Bendigo football has been exposed
