It's down to 3.

Ken Hinkley
Brenton Sanderson
Chris Scott

For me its between Hinkley and Scott. I think Ken will and should get it but there is just something about Chris Scott for me that says he would be a great fit for us. To be honest i wouldnt be to worried either way.

For some reason Chris Scott interests me too.

Fresh face, ideas and perspectives of the players I think would be good.

We need to be a little bold at times - but it all depends on Cook and Balme think - I reckon.

Count me as another seriously warming to Scott.

I suspect it is because I like what I saw his brother doing with North this year (so I may be blinded by that to a degree) and they were both players under Matthews in Brisbane's dominant period.

Both the Scotts also look like they are "no sh1t" kinda blokes and that is just the kind of thing I'd like to see down at the Cattery. He also is likely to bring some new/different thinking as opposed to Hinkley and Sanderson who operated under Thompson.

With all the upheaval, I think now is the time to bring in an outsider who has no baggage and won't be afraid to make tough calls.

It's an interesting dilema. I just think sometimes you need someone from the outside for a fresh start. I dont subscribe to the theory that we need someone who is used to our system in order to challenge for the flag next year. I reckon Scott would be great and i may be leaning to him but my gut still says Ken will get it.

The Cats conducted a first round of interviews at the weekend, with the job already believed to be down to three - Gold Coast assistant coach Ken Hinkley, Fremantle assistant Chris Scott and Cats assistant Brenton Sanderson.

Cook admitted the club was weighing up between a fresh start (Scott) and a "tweaking" of its current model (Hinkley and Sanderson).

"I think the issue for us is whether we want the plan tweaked or whether we want major change," Cook said.

"If you want major change, you probably look outside the club. If you want the plan tweaked and you want someone who has an understanding of what we have done in the last 10 years, then you go for someone internal. We haven't decided that yet."

Look I maybe wrong but something tells me we need to make some changes - and since these have been forced on us we need to take what advantage of it we can.

See it as a opportunity to make some real changes because I do not think more of the same will work for us longer term.

So far from what I seen we look like we are prepared to do more of the same - which I do not think will cut it.

A new coach from outside the club - that we obviously think is the right person for the job - is then one way we start the renewal process.

Just don't feel Sando or even Hinkley will represent enough change - to begin a new era of success at the Cats. Seems more of the same to me.

Just give Scott a 2 year contract and see what happens - by then we would have had a significant change over in players. Then we can assess Scott's ability as a coach - and he would have over seen the transition we cannot avoid. Something much harder to do if you have been at the club and contributed to the last successful era.

Fresh eyes and no connection to that period would in fact be an asset IMO.

I would be pretty happy with Scott or Hinkley, not sure about Sanderson something just doesnt sit well. Could be totally wrong though!

Would actually prefer to give Scott a go over Hinkley.

Chris Scott... why? What has he done that is so good??

Freo are only flying because they have that many top draft picks plus Pavlich it would be hard for them to stuff up

I'm disappointed Neeld isn't up there.

I would be happy for Sando or Hinkley to take over. I wouldn't think they would be so naive that they would think the game plan doesn't need changing...

No Laidley or Williams, thanks. Those are 2 guys that seriously suffer with the stress of senior coaching and you can see their teams have suffered as well. Port have been up and down like yoyo's for years, and the Kangaroos players clearly got tired of Laidley's constant angry sprays

i think scott has interviewed well, plus his brother seems to have got the roos on track. id say they are the 2 major points.

i dont think laidley or chocco have had either the cattle (laidley) or support of admin (chocco). would definitely have either as an assistant.

Wow. Is that really a good reason??

Maybe we should interview his mother

dont care who is coach as long as they implement a youth policy and work on a bit more defensive game plan

What have sando and hinkley done?

We have different opinions obviously but the cats are following the path of least resistance if they employ one of those 2.

And it seems you would too.

This whole process seems short and amateur.
Maybe Cook is tired too?

No greater defensive plan. If that happens I am not even watching. Never mind supporting.
