First accurate thing I've ever seen you say on this forum.Lucky for us we won't have pick 3 then. We are safe
I've been pitying them for years mate. It's impossible not to feel pity for the way their club has consistently humiliated them and let them down over such a long period. And the poor buggers keep on turning up with wide eyed hope and expectation year after year. And year after year their club shits on them.Even worse than 29 years (and counting) since their last premiership, is 25 years since they contended for a premiership.
When do we start to feel sorry for them?
Nope. We'll still have those 4 players to pick from though and it looks like Fadge is waiting to see who we pick up before he casts judgment.
And isn't it just 'glorious'?I've been pitying them for years mate. It's impossible not to feel pity for the way their club has consistently humiliated them and let them down over such a long period. And the poor buggers keep on turning up with wide eyed hope and expectation year after year. And year after year their club shits on them.
Agree with that, i wouldn't think they'd be relying on a new recruit to push up the ladder next season just a decent run from De Konning ect.Nope.
I'm not an AFL recruiter, and none of those guys would be discussed in the top handful of picks if they hadn't produced a body of work that gave multiple recruiters the confidence they have what it takes to be strong players at AFL level.
Some of the top picks will be stars of the game, some will have very good AFL careers, whilst others might battle before calling it a day without realising the potential the recruiters have seen in them.
But the bottom line is, Carlton need to improve their team immediately if they are to make the jump from being a mid table team to contending for premierships, such is the age profile of their best six players, upon whom they rely more than any other club in the competition do on their top 6.
And that is a lot to expect from an 18 or 19 year old.
So Carlton are relying on a 'better injury run' to bridge the gap between them and the better teams, despite having as good a run with their top 6 players as can be expected - a top 6 that Carlton rely on more than any team in the competition relies on their top 6?Agree with that, i wouldn't think they'd be relying on a new recruit to push up the ladder next season just a decent run from De Konning ect.
Geez did i say that?So Carlton are relying on a 'better injury run' to bridge the gap between them and the better teams, despite having as good a run with their top 6 players as can be expected - a top 6 that Carlton rely on more than any team in the competition relies on their top 6?
So you reply to a lot of Blues thenI'm only worried about my behaviour mate, the only time i post in that thread was when someone said something stupid about a Carlton player.
I try to stay out of that thread mate.Very happy for the footy gods to award Carlton a better injury run, just so long as we get one too.
So you reply to a lot of Blues then
Collingwood fans aren't hiding away from a poor premiership defence year. Like what Tottenham Hotspur in the premier league is renowned for the Carlton supporters appear to be lining up for the Blues 2024 DVD(probably have both Collingwood losses on it aswell) it appears finishing on the same amount of points as Collingwood is more vital to them them actually having a good successful season. I can't blame you guys tho when you have finished above us 3 times in the last 20 years.Like their 2024 ladder position?
Oh wait...
One more accurate post than you my little sparring partnerFirst accurate thing I've ever seen you say on this forum.
We can spend all day talking about what we've achieved in our time also. 16 flags. Powerhouse club etc. Without cherry picking time frames.Yeah.
Collingwood supporters can spend all day discussing what their club has achieved.
Carlton supporters try to avoid discussing what has actually happened, and love to spend all day waxing lyrical about why 'next year is going to be different'.
So they are here discussing things not hiding? From what I could tell Pies fans have argued we both had equally poor years but because we beat you twice we win the 2024 rivalry thread while Carlton supporters are rejoying at finishing above pies on percentage. What else have I missed? You should read this thread.
They traded out/cut two powerhouse players (well cheap and consistent, thats what i want from my power supplier) in Owies and wassnane. So they are here discussing things not hiding? From what I could tell Pies fans have argued we both had equally poor years but because we beat you twice we win the 2024 rivalry thread while Carlton supporters are rejoying at finishing above pies on percentage. What else have I missed?
Carlton’s greatest achievement in 2024 was that Collingwood failed to beat Essendon'2024 - A Year For The Ages' in the history of the Carlton football club.
When do we expect them to actually do something meaningful, like contend for a premiership, or beat Collingwood in a meaningful game?
Failed to beat a few teams by the looks of it.Carlton’s greatest achievement in 2024 was that Collingwood failed to beat Essendon
Yep, we had a terrible year.Failed to beat a few teams by the looks of it.
To be fair, Carlton actually had a fine list of other achievements in 2024 as well.Carlton’s greatest achievement in 2024 was that Collingwood failed to beat Essendon
Are we up and about because we had a great year or is it because we finished higher than the Pies?Yep, we had a terrible year.
Whilst the Carlton folk are up and about after accruing the same number of premiership points.
It's all relative, I guess...
To be fair, Carlton actually had a fine list of other achievements in 2024 as well.
1. Owen 60 in a final. Very hard to accomplish. Very rare.
2. Being unable to defend a lead for 40 seconds against the Saints
3. Nearly beating. Collingwood twice... Nearly....
4. Getting rid of their best small forward and not recruiting a dual AA gun who wanted to come to them.
5. Beating Richmond and North twice.
6. Finishing higher than Collingwood.
Heroic deeds.
Both. Are we up and about because we had a great year or is it because we finished higher than the Pies?
What a coincidence that the thread was about 2024 mate.Both.
Carlton have finished ahead of Collingwood on the ladder 3 times in the last two decades.
And an 8th placed finish is 5 spots higher than Carlton's median finishing position of 13th since the turn of the century.
