And in the latest news, putrid team tipped to really struggle in season 2025 with extremely mediocre list handed a fixture playing 3 sides with similar abilities.....( on top of 2 finalists from last season of which both are joint 2nd favourites to take out the premiership)

It really is something to behold, probably Carlton's greatest achievement since their last flag. The 3rd time in 20 years they have finished above Collingwood. I can see why Carlton supporters brag about a failed season as finishing with only slightly higher percentage as the pies to finish above them is an incredible almost incomprehensible feat.
Fancy beating your arch rival twice in a season and not finishing ahead of them in a premiership defence year .Talk about fluffing your chances of going ahead of the premiership table

Carlton aren't Collingwood's arch rival - don't kid yourself.

You need to play in big games regularly to maintain any sort of rivalry. Collingwood have played in plenty of big games in recent times... where have Carlton been?

And for about the 10,000th time in this thread, we've been reminded that we were the 2023 premiers, in an effort to be a sick burn. As if winning the premiership one year and 9th the next is a lesser result that being miles from the genuine premiership contenders in both seasons...

Going back 20 years seems pretty fair especially considering I'm 30 and that's the core of my memory. It's not like going back 40+ years is relevant to modern day footy aswell. 10-20 year reflections seem pretty standard doesn't it?
You're spot on with this.

By going back a couple of decades, we can see the Have's and Have Not's - those who have adjusted to the challenges of the modern era, and those that haven't.

There are clear 'Have's' - Geelong, Sydney, Hawthorn, Collingwood, West Coast and Brisbane.

There are clear 'Have Not's' - Carlton, Essendon, North Melbourne.

Then there are other clubs who sit somewhere in between - Have popped up for a single brief period or are close but can't quite put it together - St. Kilda, Richmond, Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Fremantle, etc.

You make some good points.

In 2024, the Pies were defending a premiership...last time Carlton could say that was 1996 🤣

In 2024, Collingwood beat Carlton twice pretty standard really...the last time Carlton beat the Pies twice in a season we had a Buckley in the team 🤣

And yes in 2024, Carlton was fixtured 4 gimme wins against teams that lost 20+ games. 30% of Carlton's wins came from the gimmes. They were a ladder fraud, but that meant everyone got to enjoy their 0-60 EF performance 🤩

But yeah 50 years ago, in the 1970s, Carlton used to be strong...

Are you disputing that assessment?
You keep bringing up the FACT that Collingwood are equal 2nd favourites for the flag. It's more than likely disputable that Carlton won't finish 15th given their odds as well. ( or are the odds reflecting the Pies a true indication, whereas the odds for Blues are a poorly framed market according to the multi million dollar corporations who are putting the odds up ?)

Lol - richmond won 3 flags, close but couldn't quite put it together. Another beauty from the Fadgelator

Go back to his assessment that Carlton were the 15th best team in the competition for the last two months of the year.

Go back and read what I wrote. I'll give you a hint... one of the key words when I was describing the teams Richmond are grouped with was 'or'....

But surprise, surprise... a Carlton supporter leaping to the defence of Richmond...

The assessment on our VFL side....
Now, can you please frame your market accordingly just so you can get the trifecta for the day -
First - Carlton and Collingwood aren't rivals
2nd - richmond have been useless this century
3rd - I'm waiting

The old crusty Baggers must be like what poor Melbourne fans were like back in the 1990s...always wanting to talk about ancient success (6 flags 40 years ago) that nobody gave a shit about anymore because the Dees had been rubbish for a quarter of a century.

Reminds me of Collingwood in the 80's when they were rubbish for 32 years

Yet we played in 8 more Grand Finals in that time than Carlton have in the last quarter of a century.

I think you need to look up the definition of 'rubbish' - I suggest it will say something about 5 wooden spoons, zero times contending for a premiership and a median ladder position of 13th over a quarter of a century.

Carlton aren't Collingwood's arch rival - don't kid yourself.

That is ok Fudgey - Collingwood is the ugly dumb cousin down the bottom of the hill to Carlton supporters. Here is a pat on the head for trying too hard.

They lost every single one of them.

Yet another illustration of the delusion of Carlton Supporters, given Collingwood are superior to Carlton in every way - current and historical.
I'm a happy chappy - more humour from you and less frothing and foaming. Take a walk somewhere pleasant maybe - I suggest Princes Park - and smell the roses.

That's a fluff post mate, we can see what Carlton has done to you and many other Collingwood supporters in here

You don't mind the Geelong and Brisbane supporters defending the Pies, hypocrite.

Except the current ladder which is the main thing.
