Still think we are a few years away from seriously challenging Cats & Hawks, therefore keep recruiting best available.

Our 1st pick will be between 6-8, so either Hurley or Ziebell will be gone.

If both are gone it gets very interesting & more risky with this pick.

Vickery - already had a knee reco.
Yarran - work ethic ??????
DeBoer - Dodgy kick, if we pick him I'll be shattered.
Sidebottom - this is pretty safe I reckon, I liked this guy's game at telstra dome, he'll be feeding it out to Judd in a few years.
Johnstone - I think he'll be a very good forward, only concern is attitude don't want another Fev.

Would love to pick Rockliff with our 2nd or 3rd pick, he seems like a pure medium forward with natural footy smarts.

You reckon?

Watts,
Rich,
Nat,
Hartlett
Hurley,
Ziebell

mm. your probably right but you never know with Richmond's recruiting they might pick a krakuer or rioli or someone no-one has ever heard of.

If either of Ziebell or Hurley were available i would be so happy.

But if not the talent behind them isn't too bad.

It's getting interesting for our first pick and at the moment we could get a pick anywhere between 5 - 9. We are just going to have to wait a few weeks before knowing our pick now with all teams being so close.

Personally if all of those 5 above are gone (hope Ziebell fall still :p) i'd look at either Steele Sidebottom or Mitch Robinson over Yarran, McKernan, Vickery or Johnston. As many people have said the best available should be taken and there are a few question marks over those four mentioned above that brings their value down a little.

i with you there. I have watched steele play afew times now and gee is is good and now that i have watched that Video of Robison he looks like a Daniel Cross sort of player. loved that tackle he did in the 3Q. but to me looks like he drops the ball abit weird. But at least it works. Who is this Yarran kid? Is he like a Davey or what? Will Cornilous still be around you recon. Has he got that goods? Anyone Rate Jamie sheahan as a small forward?

Robinson is a Cooney, Griffen type player not an in and under player like Cross. He is quick and a long penetrating right foot. His disposal isn't as good as Steele's but it's pretty good. At 187cm he is a very good size for a midfielder.

Yarran is a small target up forward. He is 180cm but can play taller as he has a very mature body and very good hands, he quick too. Some people have compared him to S.Burgoyne. He seems to have the capability to play in the midfield later in his career but by all reports his attitude is very poor at times and can go missing in games, he has that X-factor that can change a game.

Cornelius might be around for our second pick but I doubt it. He reminds me of Brad Fisher that can kick and probably rated one of the top 3 KF in the draft.

Thanks for that. So Yarran can be something special if he wanted to be.
S.Burgoyne sounds pretty good:eek:. So what would happen with Betts if we got Yarran? Have you herd of jamie sheahan from Vic. saw one of his game and did abit to get my attention. good kick for goal.
I think about 178cm.
what if we got rid of Fisher and Houlihan for a low draft pick?:D:D

Nothing will happen to Betts, Matty Campbell and Lindsay Thomas play in the same team look how that's turning out. Yarran can be a target in the air, as I said he can play taller.

Jamie Sheahan is a quality in and under player who is very hard at it and can find the footy. Not sure about his small forward ability but I would think he'd play there in the AFL. His disposal by foot let's him down at times and I wouldn't think we'd need another Bentick type player.

As for getting another top picks, I'm all for us getting another 2nd Rounder and I think Fisher and maybe Houlihan are expendable enough to get one. This would leave us in good sted. This would allow us to have 3 top 30 picks in a very deep draft. With the GC coming in getting quality young players now is fairly important and adding Hurley/Ziebell/Sidebottom/Robinson/Johnston, Schoenmakers/Cahill/Cornelius/Lisle and Hill/Blease/Walters would set us up very very nicely for the years to come.

I have to disagree with you S.Burgoyne doesn't sound good.

The hype is way over the output, he's lazy, unaccountable & can't break a tag.

Give me more of the Gibbs,Armfield,Browne,Grigg,Betts type's that tackle & chase for their lives.

Sidebottom > Yarran

Exactly right, not what we should want right now.

You would have said the same about Grigg before he was drafted. ;)

I think Yarran will move back into calculations because we're a good chance to beat Brisbane next week.

Where do people rank Tom Lynch aka Matthew Bate Version II among the KPF prosepcts like McKernan, Johnston, Cornelius, Cahill, Schoenmakers etc? From what Nathan Buckley said during the Vic Metro v WA game, sounds like he gives it 110% even second he plays and has an amazing attitude. He played pretty well during that game, could be a look at our second round pick?

Yeah your right about that. and we play them this week.
Yeah i was just asking about jamie because he goes to my school and i was hoping he would get drafted to Carlton.. There saying he will go in the top 30. His first 10 steps are quick but that as quick as he gets and he can kick both sides of the body. Last year he was having trouble kicking for goal and Bryan taylor always comes down to see the footy side and now he has helped him he has a great kick for goal. Wait till you see him when he works in.

So this year's draft is going to be a ripper. cant wait to see what we pick. hope we get Watts, Ziebell, Sidebottom, Natinuni.....:D:D:D
please Santa!!!!

We need to get SA's Paul Cahill, he is an athletic Buddy Franklin like CHF. And I saw a Carlton scout at his U19s Sturt match watching him so it might be likely.

But from reports i've been reading he struggling with his field kicking and goal kicking. I was very keen on him before but kind of a little hesitant now due to this, still did rank 2nd in contested marks throughout the Championships which is impressive though.

Does Sidebottom have a real weapon?
Does Suban offer anything over Browne and Armfield?
Do we want a DeBoer with inconsistent kicking?

Does Sidebottom have a real weapon?

His disposal i'd say, great with both hands and feet

Does Suban offer anything over Browne and Armfield?

Probably not, would have better skills than Armfield though. We'd probably have to use our first rounder on him because i don't see him dropping to our second. If we want another small defender Rory Sloane, Kade Klemke (more attacking) or Ash Smith could be available for one of our later picks.

Do we want a DeBoer with inconsistent kicking?

No!!, unless he's still available at our third rounder :p

Carlton need to do anything they can to get Ziebell.

I've known the kid for a while. he goes to school with my sister.

He's exceptional in all bar one thing....he's a Collingwood man from memory.

He goes to school with your sister? FMD. Just make it happen, Ratts!! :thumbsu:

If that was sarcasm there was no need. Just an explination for where I knew him from.

Seen him play about a dozen times over the last two years through our country league. The guy is exceptional like I said. He can do anything required when it calls for it.

From the bit that I have seen of Ziebell, his versatility and his hardness are exceptional. When you add his elite kicking skills to that, you come up with a rather impressive player.

Depending on where we finish, we should just go for the best available.
