Hirdy exited a mental health facility only recently. There would have been so many issues weighing on him, including what he would feel as the loss of a lot of love from a lot of fans, the loss of face at the footy club and uncertainty over what the players have been given and what the long term effects will be - this alone should be reason enough for a court to compel Dank to stand IMO. In any case, as a fan, I did find some solace in reading the transcript; I think it was because I realised that, if I were a player, my belief in Little, Hird, Thompson etc., if there were any doubts, would have been reassured. It reveals the angry tenor of discussion that occurred behind closed doors, as opposed to the legalese and dead-pan of a press conference. It reveals that they truly did believe that they got screwed. Hopefully it gives Hirdy's mind some respite, the knowledge that it will help more people understand.

FWIW, I didn't realise the document given to the club had so much information censored. I seethed again.

Dank wasn't compelled to stand for supposedly playing switcheroo with substances people were injecting. If they couldn't get "the truth" out of him over that...

and that's how the legal game is played, my friend.

Might sound like a stupid question but will the club and players get some kind of compensation for the way the saga was handled?
Yes, the players have a contract with the AFL so, if it is shown that they have suffered loss as a result of the AFL's misleading and deceptive conduct, they have legal rights to be compensated for those losses. This is separate from the losses they suffered as a result of the governance failures of the EFC. I don't know whether the EFC could also be compensated - it seems to me that they could be, if the heaviest fines in league history were imposed on the club in consequence to the deceptive and misleading conduct of the AFL.

I'm suggesting that he should have been compelled, given there is a question mark over the long term health effects and the players' right to know; it's about peoples' welfare and well-being.

That's exactly the point.

We're not going to get draft picks. We're not going to get an automatic inclusion in finals. We're not going to get money.
We're not going to change public or even our player's opinion. The players have already done their time.

It's literally just revisiting what has passed. Why is it necessary to release this now, just as we are starting our preseason games? It does nothing. The secret tapes reveal what's not a secret. And here we are back on the front cover. Ridiculous

Yeah I agree was little annoyed how this made the news on the club season launch.

Interesting information in Caro's article about the compensation claims - 30 out of 34 have been settled - Carlisle hasn't even lodged a claim which means he got no money from July to October 2016, NLM holding out for a seven figure sum, Hunter settled even though not in the 34 - By my reckoning that leaves 3 players who are unaccounted.

What I find most interesting is how she knows / whether she is accurate.

FFS, so over this flipping being news all the time. flipping disgraceful journos trying to drag it all up again, and again, aaaand again because they know it sells papers and is news. They also know that the saga has effectively all but ended so they're trying to milk any sort of saga related news for all its worth. bloody bastards

What even is this new steaming pile of horse shite? Next we'll be found to have helped Russia hack the US election and also helping fund the Comancheros as well as ISIS. Give me a bloody spell

The content of the article is similar to what we were discussing in 2013 - Alleged fraud, undercover links, etc, etc, etc - The only difference now is it's been woven into a narrative on workers compensation.

Terrible! I am sick of this FAKE NEWS once again reported by the failing Herald Sun. Wallis is a bad (or sick) guy. Sad!

I find it interesting that this comes up now after Political figures start asking for an inquiry into the how the AFL handled the saga.

FWIW:
  • Management at the club has been completely superseded; nobody employed with EFC can validate these claims
  • The ones that were there have since left and would say it's a steaming pile of bs
  • This news is considered non productive. It adds no value and changes absolutely nothing. It's old news and penalties have been handed out
  • Bring on Round 1!

That little dwarf who used to run out with the team!

Workcover claims over "witnessing injections" in 2012 that he's only just got round to lodging after being made redundant.

Rejected by workcover.

As for Wally - sad - premiership player.
Nobody has ever disputed players being injected.

Disgruntled person is gonna be disgruntled.

Yawn.
