I believe it is a narrative change. The drugs were given emergency authorisation on the basis that the trials showed they stopped infection. It's not true but no one even talks about that any more. With the low rate of infection prevention we are seeing, the drugs would not have been emergency authorised.

The story now is that the shots prevent serious illness. The evolving data shows that's true for the elderly. Not so much for under 50s and negligible for under 30s.

There is insufficient data on vaccinating pregnant people, children, and people who have recovered from Covid. Insufficient data on booster shots. But the relentless drive to vaccinate anything that has a pulse continues.

If the evolving data for infection prevention is different from that found in the trials then it raises the question of whether the real world safety of the drugs is different to the trials. The vaccine trials have to have rigorous monitoring of adverse affects but this is lost once you start rolling out to the masses. For example, the TGA's adverse events notification system is not well known to the general public and is on a voluntary reporting basis. A month ago I called them to report a potentially life threatening adverse event to a drug. The operators were all busy - the recorded message said to raise it online. A month later no one has called me to ask about it, and it has not registered on their database.
