For anyone who thinks Wines was stuck on the wing, nope hes just a dud. Was at 65% of centre bounces, second highest after Butters
I agree wines is now another useless pafc captain he is totally inept and needs to reassess his future imo.
What I've noticed is hinkley has turned this club into a bunch of balling cry babies.
It has become a nursery for burgeoning natal crybabies.

We came 5th but just got over the line on multiple occasions. Overall a pass to good considering the problems we had. Won a lot of games, club it still growing, players want to come here.
Unfortunately in the end the list was to banged up. Had structural deficiencies from the get go. Held together by a break out year for our young midfield.
Now we also have some overrated players also. (Wines & Duursma-pls no more arrows), the other under-performers have excuses because they either didnt have the ability in the first place (Mcentee and dbj) or have passed it, (boak, lycett) and the others banged up or undersized for the job.
Good thing is they have a young ruckman in the wings and will recruit the Geelong defender.
Need to fix up the wings and find another onballer.
So 6 changes to the side that ran out last night. (Lycett, McKenzie, dbj, mcentee, boak, wines, dursma)
Let’s see what Cripps can do.
McEntee and DBJ have an excuse because they don’t have the ability??
What a load of garbage where is their intensity? That doesn’t take ability.
They are playing for a top 4 AFL side and getting well paid for the privilege.

Notice Zac Butters copping a lot of flack for his action in being pissed off at the GWS water girl not moving while he was taking a shot at goals. A bit of sanity has prevailed from someone who actually knows the rules.

Runners are instructed to move themselves and any obstacles from the path of a footballer needing space to take a set shot - this woman did nothing and the umpire failed to direct her to do so. As harsh as it looked, Zac was totally in the right to get her stuff out of the friggin way.

I thought he acted like a nauseating little pissant.
He has potential to be a good player but there are signs imo he could easily become a moron.
Get your mind on football Zac.

Hard to watch.

Houston has to be our next Captain. Butters and Rozee showed their youth and immaturity tonight.

While we need a change of coach, a big bodied defender, a fit ruckman and numerous other things I think our biggest concern is the way our team went into these finals with zero cohesiveness. The last couple of weeks has been all about who gets traded, contract discussions, who goes out of the club because of who's coming in etc meanwhile Brisbane, GWS and the Wobbles look like a well oiled machine. Toby Green said this week that while it might not be the best team he's played for it's the team he trusts the most. I'd like to know how much Butters trusts Farrell, or how much Findlayson trusts McCentee we've seen them both expose the cracks in recent games.

There's been a lot of on field finger pointing, players dropping their heads and players generally losing their s**t when they haven't felt the ball landed in their lap. We look immature and we look like we're lacking in on ground leadership.

Houston fronted up after the game, he stays cool under pressure and he's now got the games experience and AA place. He speaks well. Give the younger boys time to grow up.

I said I'd wait until the finals to make a call on Kenny. He won't do it but he HAS to resign, the club has to push for his resignation we all know even if we win 23 games in a row next year we'll all feel the same way we did tonight come finals time in 24.

Carr can't be the replacement, our midfield performances these past two weeks have been really concerning.
Someone must've hacked Expat power account.

As someone tweeted, so this is today's mountain out of a molehill moment. Zak had every right to be annoyed, she was obstructing his run up. Piss weak of the umpire not to instruct her to move and take her junk out of the way.

The game is about the players, not the minions who run out the drinks.

Changing coaches isn’t necessarily a panacea (although it has been for numerous clubs), but neither is stubbornly clinging to the same busted flush.
Why is making a GF seen as the target? It's manipulating the situation to make it out worse than it is. The target is a premiership, the diagram won't look as convincing then will it...

Blaming the players is an easy target, the players don't have control of gameplan, strategy, playing list, in game changes and managing players during the season.
No but it's their job to execute the game plan and strategy. We had plenty of chances to come back and possibly win last night - the players didn't execute the final piece, finishing.

Ken will never win a premiership, not with the boys we have, we need men, gonna have to wait another 3 years…. We won’t make the eight next year, truly, its time for a rebuild…. Here’s hoping for a gws and lions final… let there be a footy god….
Spoke to long tim port supporters, Kingsley, nicks Hardwick had port dna under Williams. Williams need to come back treadles as coach to restore port dna

Surely though, you have to admit that it's the coaches job to get them playing his way and executing? If he can't then he needs to put players on the park that will. If you haven't done that after 10+ seasons then I would question his ability or judgement. Once again, there are coaches that have actually made grand finals that have had that call made in less time. Also, do you Believe for one minute that Ken wouldn't be lapping up the credit if we'd gone a couple of steps further? By his own admission, this is the best list he's had! Better than those he took to a prelim! I don't blame Ken for EVERYTHING, but jeez surely we are out of excuses. Maybe Warren Treadrea should be coach because he seemed to be able to motivate our group more with a few sentences on a podcast than Ken could in two finals appearances this year.
I agree, but I don't think it's as simple as you suggest.

The list is looking good, it has some very obvious strengths and lots of promising youth coming through. But it has some glaring deficiencies too.

I'm blaming the list manager more than Ken for our lack of defender and ruck stocks. It's clear we knew about it, which is why we went after Ratugolea last season. And why we've tried a few others like Skinner etc.

It would have been a miracle to win a premiership with our current defence and ruck.

And let's not all forget that this is a team that everyone expected wouldn't make the top 8 at the start of the season.

Yes, expectations change, but we still need to keep perspective.

I for one am quite excited at the prospect of filling in the obvious holes in our squad. I'm disappointed we didn't get further, but I'm also realistic on what our current squad can achieve.

You would think so.

But apparently Butters ('nauseating little pissant') should have spent some of his 30 second shot clock time to take the petulant water bottle girl by the hand to escort her out of the area and pack her chair and snacks into a neat little pile for her before continuing his shot on goal in a cut throat professional AFL final.

This league. So feckin amateur.

Then get called play on followed by throw in.

If it was country footy he would have gotten a 50m penalty

We didn't deserve to get anywhere near GWS last night but 1.9 in the last quarter is such an appropriate way for our season to end. They say your weaknesses are exposed in finals and our conversion around goals has been deplorable all year and continued in our 2 finals. I see far better goal kicking in our local league.

It's been this way for years. Take a look at the 2017 EF, that shouldn't have even been close.

Lycett played in almost all the games our midfield was torched (i think he missed the second showdown?)
Played a couple of reasonable games midseason.
Why oh why, did they foolishly go in with the same old, same old so many injured players.
Carrying one injured player in a final is a misfortune, playing more than one is carelessness.
Hayes who rucked when we defeated GWS could have been the ruckman.
And McKenzie was limping inthe warmup.

As David King likes to say; do not get beaten by what you know.

The game should have been over at half-time.
And yet we nearly pinched it in the last quarter, where we kicked 1.5 + some out-on-the-full shots.

Where McKenzie could be seen limping in the warm up.

It's a sad fact that few recognise.

The club as we knew it began with Fos and ended with Choco. There was a Williams/Ebert playing or coaching every year for about 50, that's all over now.

We could restore that lineage. Tredrea on the board, Bucky CEO, Carr head coach and Choco coaching the magpies and youth development but we'll never get that while the AFL run the club.

Right now we're an AFL franchise and a part of the footy industry, a place for jobs and growth, participants at best.

For a good cricketer Marshall is very fumbly. Bounced out of F50 due to his fumbliness. Usually good cricketers are clean with the ball. Good player just had a bad night?

Is it actually fair dinkum that a lot of the “giants fans” their last night were crows fans? The port are shit chants seemed quite intense and I went past a group of them coming out of the ground and they were going pretty hard at us all. I haven’t really come across gws supporters before but I thought they’d be more your theatregoer types like Sydney fans so it definitely made me think their could’ve been a few crows fans in disguise.

The gws marketing was a bit of fun calling on crows fans but even I didn’t think they’d be that sad and pathetic to go through with it.

It’s actually like we were somehow responsible for postgate and last night was a form of revenge.

Strange.

I would love to get Luke Hodge to do a pre season review for us. He would clearly see the 'weak' links we are carrying (players and coaches). Pipe dream I know but somehow we have to introduce some hard-arse to stir the place up.
Nemises
bring back mark Williams and tredrea. The port dna has been broken.Hardwick, Kingsley and nicks have the port dna. So has few. so has Clarkson.
