Wood over:

-Brisbane Lions. 8 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw in last 10. Won last 4 (3 at Gabba). 12-8-1 all time.

Bogey teams:

-Carlton. Lost the last 9, often by big margins.
-Geelong. Lost the last 8 and have barely beaten them in the last 30 years.
-Pies. Lost the last 5, haven't beaten since 2007.
-Gold Coast:(

I think Fremantle is the only team that has a winning record against us over our previous five matches. It could possibly have been written off as an anomaly, with us having played so many games recently against the Dockers over at Subiaco, early in the season, when they seem to be firing. But the elimination final last year suggests it might be a bit more than that. Round 14 next year at Simonds (first game there against Freo since 2009) would be a good time to get one back on them.

We've got the wood on Hawthorn and Richmond currently. Most of our recent 200+ gamers have only lost to the Tigers one or two times. Milburn (not surprisingly) had the worst record against them: 13-4. Ling and Chapman were 13-1, Scarlett was 13-2, Bartel 12-1.

Fair to say you've had the wood on Essendon for a while, too.

Not that bad actually. 3 losses from 5 matches. And only one of your wins was asmashing while the other games were reasonably close. Before that our last win was in rd10, 2005...

You what?!

Our most disgraceful side in a long time still managed to beat you this year.

We walloped you twice in 2010.

We've won three of the last five against you.

Try again.

Yep, I'll try again in another 4 years.

It feels like a few times when we were at our absolute peak, we'd come up against an in-form Essendon with people expecting them to give the Cats a run for their money. Cue absolute massacre. 2011 undid a fair bit of that, but then another big win in 2012, when we went into the game as underdogs, swings things back in our favour.

That's true, but considering how strong Geelong has been during that period, many would expect them to fly over to WA, get a win with a minimum of fuss and head back out without anyone noticing. But even when we have won, those pesky Dockers have given us everything we could handle (and were very stiff to lose in 2011 and 2008 in particular). And now they've beaten us in Victoria...if they get us at Kardinia Park next year, they'll have the wood on us at our home, their home and at a neutral venue. Tough to argue with.

Last 5-7 years, based on my confidence when playing teams:

Dicked by: Geelong, Port, North, Hawthorn
Give a dicking to: St.Kilda (bigtime), Carlton and Brisbane
Close games: Sydney (amazing games always)

Recently Melbourne have beaten us a couple of times too, sad.

Carlton and essendon are our bogey sides. Teams we should win against.

Wood over adel, port, Syd, bris, wc and freo. Very good travelling side.

Now tell me. Why am I posting at 4 am and not putting away a pig from Bridie o Reilly's?
I don't know.

Because even a pig wouldn't go near a collingwood supporter.

For the Swans, I think first and foremost, the Crows are our bogey side. You never expect to win, home or away. Collingwood also is very difficult, they play us at our own game. Richmond at the G is getting tough as well, a match we generally lose.

On the flip side, probably Fremantle is the game where you feel fairly confident, and the Lions. However both these clubs are improving rapidly.

I miss the days when we could mark down a win against Essendon. We won 11 out of 12 or something ridiculous like that, but now you guys have won the last 3 (although in your win last year the umpiring was so bad that even Essendon supporters were coming on our board and apologizing).

Yeah, that was a SHOCKER. It felt like a really bad loss instead of a win, purely because it was so obviously handed to us.

Unfortunately after our last decade nearly every team has or had the wood over us recently :(

Not sure I agree about Essendon though; last few years it's 50/50 at best and we have handed them a few almighty thrashings, including a final.

Have to be Carlton and Geelong for us. 8 and 9 straight, respectively. Hopefully we turn it around in a couple of weeks against the Cats. I don't think they're the same side that has simply refused to allow us to beat them for a few years. That said, the one time I've seen them look like that team that just will not lose, that team just makes themselves win - the team they've been since about round 6 2007 until recently - was against us in round 2. They still seem to have the desire to beat Hawthorn, but not so much anyone else.

In a way, I wonder what that says about Geelong, and the damage we did to them in 2008.

Yep, terrible damage given that we have since won 2 premierships to Hawthorns 0, have beaten Hawthorn 9 times in a row, including a smashing in a final.

Terrible, long lasting damage!!!

They had a run of 6 in a row against us. Since then it has been 4-1-1 our favour with the 4 wins being by 76, 74, 62 and 96 points.
