Good team, but imo their midfield lacks depth & we should be able to control that which will go a long way

Yes, Brouch, Mrouch, Sloane and Gibbs that is where there must be a clear edge. Given we may have a few players underdone down back, I think the our forwards and their forwards will balance each other out. Its in the middle where this game will be decided.

It makes keeping Brouch match ready and injury free so important.

Mitchell, Scully, Birchall the obvious players missing off the top of my head, I've probably missed some.

I wasnt going to count Scully given he was acquired recently and that Burton is replaced by Chad as well. I thought Chad may have missed this as he has had a few injury issues over summer.

Think Wingard is in doubt too.

Time for big O'Brien to get a Guernsey.

No look at McAdam or McHenry early?

Why don't the crow fans like Kelly?

Not good enough. Tough as nails, tries hard but really just lacks a tool that takes him out of being a good depth option.

I am not a big fan of best 22 teams since it is unusual for the best 22 to play even one game together in a season.

Nevertheless, it does provide a starting point so my team for Round 1 assumes everyone will be available and we play a similar structure to last year.

Brown Talia Doedee

Smith Keath Laird

Seedsman Sloane Atkins
Jacobs Mrouch Gibbs

Knight Walker Lynch

Betts Jenkins Gallucci
Milera, Greenwood, Brouch, Douglas

If Talia misses the Hartigan if fit or Otten replaces him.
If Greenwood is not ready then CEY comes in.
If Brown is not ready, come on down Bran Nue Mackae

I would like to play the FOG but I think we will go for a smaller forward line against the Hawks

Their midfield lacks depth, and will be kicking to some pretty average marking talls in a cooked Rough, Ceglar and Gunston who's not known for contested marking. The smalls will be the problem.

Just need to make sure the heat is turned right up so they cant kick to the lead of Breust/Wingard/Gunston. Going the other way we really should be looking to take advantage of a pretty weak defence. Stratton a gun obviously, but Frawley is a spud, and we need try and make Sicily defend 1v1 rather than be allowed to float.

We match up pretty poorly on them. Breust usually kicks a bag against us, Betts always goes missing against them and they manage to shut down our outside players.

They've had more time to adjust to the new AFL rules (still beggars belief that they were given preferential treatment).

Having our first choice midfielders not just available, but actually fit will be a massive difference.

Stratton has a great record on Betts.

We need to have a plan to mix things up.

Gunston also tears us apart.

And he’s back......
Yeah, landed back in Adelaide from Melbourne 20 mins ago.

Saw a PAFC official at Melbourne airport this AM, but don't know who he was. Not sure what business they would have in Melbourne at the moment.
