Hope he's right about Francis sliding. That's the important feature of his article from our perspective.
He's not the only one who is thinking Francis will slide. Cal Twomey has said it's a chance for the last couple of weeks.

Francis is seen as a flight risk with his family history.

We get Milera and Francis this year and it's a dream scenario.

I'd be happy enough to have the quality of both (and that there wouldn't be a go home factor). Still think our list may need that one more tall going forward: Collins, McKay, Burton.

Brett Anderson is a pretty astute judge - he's followed these guys all year, was at the combine - think he's also got an idea which way clubs are leaning.
It's not just Balic and Burton - why would Melbourne put so much into moving up to 3 to take Curnow, who would almost certainly have been there at 6. I like Milera but would fall off my chair if we didn't take Francis first. Collins effectively at 7 would be a big surprise, Rioli very early. Us taking B McKay...it all feels a little off to me.

There's plenty of astute judges out there. Doesn't mean they get it right. We'll see though.

Brett anderson isn't the first draft pundit who thinks Melbourne went up a few spots to snaffle Curnow from the Essendon clutches.

What are you basing your draft impressions on anyway. Knightmare? Clubs may have totally different impressions to those in the media.

I don't mind the sound of Milera talent-wise but that heart condition concerns me. I'm certain that I read it could flare up again one day. It's a bit concerning for his ability to play AFL.

Not basing on any one pundit. Overall view, what I've seen of them playing, what clubs might be looking for. We all base our opinions off a host of factors.

Ben McKay wasn't even playing TAC up until the later part of the year. Had a few good games but have to take into account the amount of top opposition injured and tired after a long year, players away on Academy work. He has so little exposed form against quality opposition. Represents much greater risk than Burton for mine.

Interesting. This suggests the Crows will call out Hipwood's name first.
How does that suggest that?

Edit: I assume with the 20% discount although what if a team under us did that? Or just before us?

Keays is meant to be another academy player isn't he?

I think Brett has a pretty good read on things up until our pick. I just can't see us taking Milera over Francis.

Suspect some journos have great info from say 14 clubs and they guess their way through the rest. It's like Cal saying the other day he has no idea what GC will do but he seems pretty confident on other clubs.

Suspect we're water tight now unlike last year when everyone seemed to know we were talking Lever at 14.

How does that suggest that?

He's selected the pick before us (Brisbane aren't the pick before us). This means we picked him and Brisbane elected to match (he slots into the draft at that point), then we picked again.

Academy players in his draft
- Melbourne picked Mills (matched by Sydney)
- Essendon picked Hopper (matched by GWS)
- Melbourne picked Kennedy (matched by GWS)
- Adelaide picked Hipwood (matched by Brisbane)
- Gold Coast picked Keays (matched by Brisbane)

I don't think the bolded part is true, essendon could have taken him at 5. Phantom drafts in the media are normally decent up until about pick 15 and then they never look like what actually happens, so I wouldn't put any weight on suggestions post pick 20.
