Opinion Changes for Round 2 vs The Blues

Seriously it is an opinion forum. Stating the bleeding obvious that if things don't change immediately we can be 0 and 4 with our upcoming fixture is not throwing the toys out with the cot.

It is stating we were not prepared for round 1 and need to get our act together asap or we could be in real trouble.

Would hate to actually post something really negative

Would you like to bet that we will be 0-4? $50 to the BF Bulldogs player sponsorship fund :)

Ah yes, statistics, the true domain of a defender.

How dare I bring quantitative information into a debate, particularly when specifically asked to back up my opinion?

Comparing averages, out of 32 categories, covering kicks, handballs, marks, tackles, etc., etc. Cordy rates above Gardner in all but one. That one being disposal efficiency, which currently favours Gardner ever so slightly 79.4% to 78.4%, but doesn't really mean a lot when Zaine still averages 8 effective disposals per game compared to Ryan's 5.4.

WHAT ABOUT THE -17 METRES GAINED

Across their careers Zaine averages close to double Ryan's metres gained, 141.7 to 77.6

Please note that I'm not trying to be hyper critical of Ryan Gardner, I'm simply trying to point out that Cordy is a lot better than many give him credit for, and he certainly doesn't deserve to be the whipping boy he has become on this forum.

We play a high pressing zone game style. This tactic exposes defenders and can make them look bad when things go wrong further up the field.
Unfortunately they also don't get the credit they deserve when their high pressure helps keep the ball in the forward line for extended periods and helps us score more goals than the opposition.

The common misreading of the situation leads to an incorrect allocation of blame on our defence for almost all of our losses, when there are very often greater problems further up the ground.

Our small/medium forwards who have all been playing their roles fairly regularly were consistently beaten by their opponents on Wednesday night, yet people are calling for the removal of a key position player that was playing in a new and constantly changing role as the solution to our problems.🤦‍♂️

Though I enjoy a punt I never bet against the dogs, never have and never will.

I hope we get our act together asap, starting this Thursday, as we have plenty of banana skins in our way through the first 4 rounds.

Happy to add $50 to the sponsorship fund without the bet

This has probably been answered a million times.

I'm a bronze member which is effectively GA seating. I'm trying to obtain my ticket for this week's match. It's not allowing me to obtain my ticket without paying for it. What am I doing wrong, because it's not allowing me to add the option of $0 General Admission.

I've avoided media / viewing this forum for the past few days.

I must have missed it - Has Bont been cleared to play?? Reading the last couple of pages of this thread, no one has him included in their outs which is comforting.

Wait and see still, supposedly ankle swelled up pretty bad after the game even tho he played it out with a jab, they'll manage it throughout the week but yeah, I'd say 50/50 right now.

He’s still listed as a test per the medical report. I assume he’ll be named and given up to the bounce to prove his fitness.

I've messaged the club asking for a brief rundown of the vfl practice match.

Nothing but crickets from their end.

This really sucks.
The naive optimist in me would like to think that means JUH kicked 10 and Jones picked up 40 touches on the wing, and we're just staying tight lipped about it before unleashing them this week.

The realist in me knows this is just typical poor fan engagement from the club.

To be fair there hasn't been coverage from a few other clubs for their reserves.

We used to have great engagement on social media from the Footscray team. I don't know what's happened? COVID?

It’s more that you can’t have him as an out because it would be offensive to list any mere mortal as a replacement.

Out: Bont
In: The Holy Spirit?

Nick Truelson was good at providing updates of reserves matches (esp. the shorter versions on the GC during 2020). Since he went to Melbourne United the well has run dry!

I'm genuinely concerned about our early season form. I know the club treated the Bombers and Lions games as full dress rehearsals for rnd1. We lost both games due to our lack of chemistry and ability to connect from back half to front half.

In the Dees game besides the 2nd quarter we were outplayed for the rest. If they kicked straight we would of lost by ~50 points. Screenshot_20220321-162041.jpg
I feel like we are 3-4 weeks away from our best form and finding our best mix. This Carlton game will be huge challenge given we have historically struggled against them.

Not sure if you got an answer, but my reserved seat ticket isn't ready yet. It's telling me half an hour, so I don't know if that's something similar that's affecting you at all.

Sorry if already posted, but I hadn't seen this.
