I don't agree this was many teams strategy against Goldy, except maybe Geelong post Ottens.

Even if you are correct, doesn't that make it worse that we now play a less mobile , less footy IQ version of Goldy for teams to do this to?

If one of Goldy/Xerri doesn't go for Comben this week, Noble clearly has no idea, no balls and is another Brad Scott.
define many? it happened way to regularly for my liking, and fwiw i think xerri is a while off yet, just as tim english, todd marshal and many other emerging rucks took time, the other option is to do the curry/nank route and hope a 2nd ruckman not getting mush game time can hit his straps with some more regular games. which is why iam surpised we took a pint on CCj with next years 2nd rounder, someone up high must have far better faith in him thn i can see however iam far from n expert but i just think it was an exensive play ind gives us a pretty crap draft hand when we re odds on to win a second spoon.

Unfortunately it's going to be a slow burn as we build our way up. We all know the players who need to be phased out over the net 12-24 months and hopefully at the end of the season we'll see changes like Comben helping Larkey in the forward line, Paul Curtis giving us some zip in the forward line, Taz, WilPhil back rotating in the midfield and maybe even Cunners and Jed in for some more support. Comben coming in leaves us with two rucks and i think the best option is starting with X and Goldy giving him some chop out from the bench so we can take it right up to the best rucks in the competition.

We desperately need another tall down back but going from McGuinness game yesterday he's not physically ready. I think he plays more like a flanker, just like Goater and Burgman who were all good in the reserves yesterday.

Not much else impressed me from the VFL team, Laz looked slow, Jed worked hard but his kicking let him down at times, Kyron looked and played like a reserves footballer. Bonar gave us some good drive but was well beaten in the air and CCJ has no presence at all while Edwards is very much a work in progress - hopefully it's the case of big men taking time!

There's more pain ahead but we need to be comparing ourselves to Brisbane when Fagan took over and they were horrible until the key players developed.
i would say brisbane benifited more from trading in neahl and charlie cameron, however i accept you need to do both trade and develop.

Forgot to mention highlight of the match was lil danj winning the halftime raffle, signed jumper by all players, in the Victory (Disco) Room
My highlight was seeing big danj's bonce on the big screen!

Turner did such a good job on Daniel that he only got 2 votes.
Either Bevo thought Daniel was their 4th best player or Nobes also gave Daniel a vote - either way the idea that Nobes thought Kayne did a good job on Daniel was clearly just a piss take.

Well at least we have to hope so - if Nobes actually thought that Sugar did a good job and Bevo thought Daniel was their 4th best player we have a lot more to worry about re Nobes and his coaching ability.

Lol 'won one of five against the Saints when they were struggling'. Didn't mention losing to the Dogs by a few points when they were reigning premiers.

If memory serves correctly, the Sainters were pretty clear faves that day. They came of an 11 win season to our 6.

If he was told to play off Naughton the coach needs to go. I would have played Walker on Naughton(he couldn't have done worse) and let McKay play hero( go for the intercept).

We are not using our limited resources properly. Walker concedes one goal per game but does notheing else.

McKay's clone kicks goals galore but we have Ben being outmarked deep in defense. He might be a reasonable forward, something far more important than a defender
I actually have had similar thoughts before. I think Walker is at his best as a very simple straight up 1 v 1 defender. I do wonder whether we would get more bang for buck having McKay as the intercepting / roaming player over the top. He also has a bit more creativity moving the ball on.
