Crows get done by a lazy 7 goals and are yet again described as 'gallant'.

So yet again the picture of the true 'Galant' Crows midway through their 'rebuild' needs to be circulated:

Maybe a controversial opinion but

Luke Jackson is an excellent player, but a below standard ruck.

His hitout win % is very low (one of the lowest of any ruck getting consistent minutes) and his hitout to advantage is embarrassingly low (lowest in the league)

I think the role in melb of playing utility / 2nd ruck suits his skill set very well and protects him from the hiding he would be getting and from his weaknesses being exposed while he gets to use his strengths.

Having said that he’s 20, and could develop the actual ruck craft in the plenty of time he’s got ahead. His apparent work ethic says that it’s certainly possible.

But right now he’s basically a 200cm mid (which is a ****ing handy thing to have)

Geelong weren’t even trying, I was annoyed that they didn’t smash them.

Even the great Essendon team of 2000 lost a game - is this Melbourne team better? I guess time will tell.
The thing I suppose is the big gap between Melb and the second best team. Carlton/Brisbane are solid, but unlikely to overtake them. The rest aren't near it either.

Melb's percentage (161.7) is better than the 2000 Bombers at round 10 (155.7).

Do you really think they’re making their decisions by professor Xavier-ing what the players actual intent was?

Theyre judging it on the result. Deliberate is just the name of the rule.

The result is what they rule on, not whether the player meant to or not. There’s probably been a 1000 cases this year where players just meant to put the ball down the line but misjudged it and copped a deliberate free against

But going back to the point, the umpires have always absolutely ******* always said that they do not care what intent was.

If you collect a player high they don’t care if that wasn’t your intent, whether you knew the player was there or whatever. it’s a free

If you run over the mark, does your intent matter? Does it matter if you didn’t realise where the mark was?

What free that’s ever been given in the history of the game could have been overturned if the ump believed the player didn’t intend to do the action?
A player can legally bust open the skull of an opponent with his knee in a marking contest. That's footy
