Deliberate OOB? Que? It says it on the tin.
Do you really think they’re making their decisions by professor Xavier-ing what the players actual intent was?

Theyre judging it on the result. Deliberate is just the name of the rule.

The result is what they rule on, not whether the player meant to or not. There’s probably been a 1000 cases this year where players just meant to put the ball down the line but misjudged it and copped a deliberate free against


But going back to the point, the umpires have always absolutely ****ing always said that they do not care what intent was.

If you collect a player high they don’t care if that wasn’t your intent, whether you knew the player was there or whatever. it’s a free

If you run over the mark, does your intent matter? Does it matter if you didn’t realise where the mark was?

What free that’s ever been given in the history of the game could have been overturned if the ump believed the player didn’t intend to do the action?
