Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

As Cal Twomey said yesterday gold coast and lions will swap picks as lions need huge points for Ashcroft and Fletcher and suns can get multiple early picks that the lions don’t need seems like it’s a no brainer. I don’t see how we get another early pick except for a salary dump or trading out futures but we need to be confident we will rise up the ladder so maybe that’s a next year activity

The Gold Coast and GWS just happen upon first rounders so often it is bloody frustrating.

Think I'd almost welcome a return to discussing Cogs at this point!

Graham Wright will have done an all time madness if he manages to pull off Taranto + Bruhn for Grundy. What a deal that is with Darcy Cameron looking like he can at a minimum break even with the best rucks in the comp.
Bruhn will head to Cats.
Taranto linked to Pies and Tigers.
Not sure what Hopper is up to, perhaps Bombers? maybe the silence suggests we're working on something?

Although I think we'd be throwing our large cap space at FA's.

Bruhn would be a great get for the Cats, do they have a first round pick this year? That probably gets it done.

Hopper is a contested beast, but can't help but think Taranto would would complement our midfield more. Does well when he rests forward.

If we can get one of Taranto/Hopper, Amon and a high end draft talent like sheezel, we play finals next year.

So, cogs gonna leave a million plus contract for who? What? Why? We ain't paying anything over 700k for a another one paced 29 yr old mid right? Trade out future first for this year's draft and get 3 potential guns through the door and quicken the re build as such. Fug cogs.
There are a number of options being considered, but they are all about improving the List thru FA and Draft collateral. Hearing all sorts of player/manager/other Club contact going on. We could even trade and bring a player in.

Personally, we should be concentrating on FA and Draft collateral.

I also understand our recruiting team are very buoyed about the quality of the 2023 Draft, so trading our future first would need to net us a considerable mid this year.

Pluralled. Been very little Brayshaw scuttlebutt - hope we are working in the shadows there.
Angus wants to stay a Dee, but let’s just say we are sniffing around.

My view, we should be making him priority as an FA. Imagine if we could get him with Amon and somehow either trade or draft another top line mid. Would be very nice.

Whats the 2023 Free Agent list looking like at the moment?

Not sure on the full list, but these are just some of the free agents out of contract at the end of next year.

Charlie Curnow (RFA)
Jade Gresham (RFA)
Callum Mills (RFA)
Harry Himmelberg (RFA)

Let's pretend North Melbourne get an end of first compensation pick (pick 19). Would we take that pick for Tom Mitchell if he wanted to play under Clarko again and fill that age/leadership void at the Roos?
Wasn't he thinking of leaving last season because of Clarko?

I would have Gresham and Himmelberg in a heartbeat. One, but both……yes please !!

Gladly!

I agree, they're the two that excite me the most. Curnow is great obviously and exceeding the form I ever thought he'd return to but the price tag he'd warrant is offset by the risk of taking someone with his injury history on, and Mills is a Sydney academy lad. Not going anywhere.

Gresham and Himmelberg is our forward line covered, Himmelberg was a great tertiary forward to Cameron and he'd cover the Gunston role well. Gresham is a guy I've always wanted at the Hawks.

yes and a future 2nd or 3rd. If there is anyway we can come close to breaking even, that's a great result.
