Totally agree with this, but also don't think there is any doubt he feels let down by the club's response after his being-persecuted-by-the-media statement.
Surely theres honest conversations happening behind closed doors. The club had to be looking to "make a stand" after the media circus went into overdrive, thats why it was a wet lettuce leaf punishment. They clearly didnt think it was as heinous as the ambulance chasers were trying to make it. Seems to be a mini stand off publicly at the moment but surely if the players love him, the coach loves him, the fans love him and he loves the club it'll get done. Surely..

I REALLY want him to stay. We will be WAY worse off without him.

I hope you are right, but I doubt there are any behind closed doors conversations with the Administration along the lines of "Ignore our public statement, we don't really mean it. Sorry it made you look like a fool and suggested we disagreed with your position."

My point is, I believe he loves the group and the coaching staff, but could easily have trust issues with the higher-ups.

A stunning form reversal and his capacity to avoid trouble has Jordan De Goey back in the good books at Collingwood. But a looming new contract is set to have strict guidelines.

Collingwood is confident Jordan De Goey will remain at the Pies if he is prepared to accept behavioural clauses in an incentive-based new deal.

De Goey is keen to stay at Collingwood and the free agent will likely be offered a deal close to the one that was withdrawn after his Bali nightclub escapade, expected to be two years at $800,000 a season.

The Pies will wait until the end of the year to negotiate that deal, which would need full board approval given his trail of incidents across his career.

De Goey’s outstanding form and his capacity to avoid controversy since his Bali trip has helped bring about a dramatic change in heart by the Pies.
De Goey and his manager Ryan Vague are understood to both believe his best prospects of maximising his career are at Pies where he can play on a big stage and as a highly marketable Collingwood star.

St Kilda is his likely landing point if he leaves, but the Saints board is yet to approve a full-blown attempt to secure his services.

De Goey could be offered $800,000 a season across as many as five years at St Kilda.

The Collingwood deal would have triggers relating to his off field conduct and potentially penalty clauses for any future transgressions.

The Pies on Monday signed free agent Jamie Elliott for three more seasons after his brilliant season including 21 games as well as the matchwinner in the clash against Essendon.

Elliott would have had suitors if he decided to move on but the 29-year-old fan favourite will now spend his entire career at the Pies.

Pies football boss Graham Wright said of Elliott: “We’re pleased to extend Jamie for another three years, and to hopefully see him play out his career at the club. Jamie is an instrumental figure in our program. Across 11 seasons he has a wealth of football smarts which is invaluable to the youth of our group.”

Winning a premiership at Collingwood in coming years would also help his brand as the Saints continue to battle to establish their premiership credentials.
From a list management perspective keeping De Goey is also smarter business than outlaying multiple picks for an inside midfielder like GWS onballer Tim Taranto.

De Goey’s free agency compensation would be off-set by the arrival of Brisbane key forward Dan McStay, meaning the Pies would effectively let him go for almost nothing.

GWS small forward Bobby Hill is also destined to get to Collingwood next season as the Pies aggressively improve their list.

The Pies were keen on Hill last year when his trade to Essendon was aborted and they love his speed and elite kicking skills.

He is yet to blossom as a footballer after injuries and a testicular cancer diagnosis this year but the Pies believe he has the potential to add to a forward line that includes Jack Ginnivan, Jamie Elliott, Ollie Henry, Beau McCreery, Will Hoskin Elliott and Beau McCreery.

Whilst I reckon Jordy has or will sign I suspect there is a fair bit of BS in that article about strict behavioural clauses. I don’t believe that these alleged clauses can even be added to an AFL contract.

sideswipe might be able to shed some light on this.

It looks to me like a Murdoch media beat up and justification for their earlier crap.

I doubt Fly, the panel and GW would disagree with you.

BUT, because of the wowser snowflake majority are making all the noise in the world, the club has to be seen as 'opposing immorals'

Probably in reality even Anderson (who contradicted Degs's rightful call out of the media) and the board are probably in unison behind closed doors with Degs, certainly wouldn't be surprised, sure might be a couple on that board that want him gone.

Those couple will be sternly reminded that your first line and the bolded is the priority for this organization and are def in the (noisy) minority, at the club, 'if you want off the bandwagon there is the door' - so to speak.

Methinks he'll stay, in fact never had much doubt. Just that the whole wowser snowflake episodes are a necessary appeasement i:e the media bullsh*t.

Ed said his current contact has behavioural clauses, so there is no doubt that it can be part of the contract.

I agree. There are de facto behavioural clauses in the SPC around disrepute and gross misconduct. I cannot see how something more prescriptive could be included? And what is the mechanism from there. Terminate immediately without pay? Gimme a break.

If it soothes the troubled minds of puritans, then yeah, Jordy has special behavioural clauses.

Have the hot scoop, everything is agreed to in principle between the parties but there is a legal issue holding up the pen to paper.

There is currently a backlog of applications at the Births, Deaths and Marriages office. De Goey has said he won't sign until he officially changes his name to Jordan De Stayey

.....this is also where Chinese whispers lead to the whole us signing McStay at 600k for X years. We are signing De Stayey on that contract.

Edit: can also confirm the 600k was accepted by Jordy because Maynard said he would go Neal-Bull-end on him if he didn't accept.

Yes the standard ones, which I suspect are the exact same ones as in his present contract.

I doubt that there is any chance that a contract could have behavioural clauses that mute the contract for anything like what he has done thus far.

And just like that Jordy is in the Top 20 in the coaches' voting, having played 15 out of 20 games.

Do the moral crusaders still want him out?

Calm your gloating, he has been fantastic the last two weeks and a huge reason we have won. But there are big games to come and his problems have usually been remaining consistent. In the past, Swans at the SCG is the kind of game he will get 15 touches and have little impact. He will need to have an impactful 25 for us to have any chance.

I think he‘s done some stupid, stupid things. I never wanted him out. His football ability and what he adds to the team has nothing to do with his mess ups - best we (and that includes you) don’t confuse the two.

you can have bringing into disrepute clauses I think.

I still think the club wont offer him as long a contract as st. kilda would.

He is leading our club for the season. But yeah, consistency.

Not confusing the off-field with on-field is exactly what those of us in the “pro-Jordy” camp have always done.

Have another try.
