Pendles was on Triple M this morning and they asked him about the Franklin contract situation and he responded along the lines of - he may have already more or less agreed to terms with the Swans but they are not announcing it as it may become too much of a distraction for everyone at this time of the year.

It may be a similar situation with Jordy?

Likely.

Spends two months trying to dismantle the guys career, then declares Collingwood have to re-sign him. 🙄
Absolute w***er. In his column he demanded we sign DeGoey, blamed Melbourne's goal kicking for us winning and tried to get DeKoning over the line for the Rising Star. I get he hates us, but you need to be remotely professional as a journo

I don't remember Degs saying or even hinting he'd be going anywhere at any point.

All the news noise has come from the muck raking media, why do we speculate on what the media says and take as well, it's likely?

Some on here were barracking for it, don't hear much from them now.

A lot including myself called out the media as sensationalising the stories and then all of sudden Degs is gonna be a cat or a saint, a lot of us said it was what is was - media noise and he's likely not to go.

In short we don't know, but, given everything it's likely he'll stay - a lot of us said after NY and Bali nothing gate that he wasn't goin anywhere - except the scum media and some of the new world want every player to be a choir boy barrackers.

If you look at it realistically, Degs may ask for 800 or more, he knows the club are not the same negotiators as previous years, that is they won't bend easy.

Equally other clubs will be wary of the unwanted off field not much stories. Just coz he's played some ripper games in the short time after Bali nothing gate doesn't mean every club including ourselves are gonna fall over themselves to sign him at whatever his manager wants.

Willing to bet his motives are more than just $, unless he's a seriously good bad faith actor and has his immediate team mates and coaches have all fallen for it, unlikely. So that counts out the aints anyway, if he wants team success, team success seems a likely want.

So has Degs said or done anything that would lead you to believe, 'yep he's goin' or are you sucked in by that pencil neck Whateley and his inebriated side kick slobbo and desperate for relevance types sloop maclure and that sen wannabe edmunds?

How did you fall for it in the first place?

Not really. Integrity in journalism died may years ago. Now it's all about being first, being sensational, feeding the 24Hr news cycle and generating 'clicks'. No journalist is ever held to account. It's made worse that the AFL has accepted money from the journo's companies (broadcast rights) that guarantees them access and seeming immunity from ever being plain wrong. I would love the clubs to pull a Trump and say "Who are you? Who do you work for? No. Not talking to you!" Unfortunately, the clubs would be penalised for breach of licence or some such rubbish. We truly have the tail wagging the dog these days.

Sadly this is true. I hastily, spelling mistake riddled twitter post qualifies as journalism these days. Why waste time going to the source of the story to check its factually correct when the scum are never held to account for false reporting

I read one of Jordy's recent Insta posts after the Port Power game where he noted he was 'Grateful to this Group'. My basic read was that he was pretty invested in the Group he is playing with. You've heard Fly come out with categoric support to have him stay too. Jordy's also seemed pretty excited as part of the recent tight wins that the Group has forged. I'm not betting that he's leaving, despite second rate hack journalists talking it up.

If Slobbo has proven anything over his career, it’s that the bolded is patently untrue.

Slobbo and Professional in the same sentence - ... now that is an oxymoron!

After that, Maynard then corrected himself and said: if he goes, I just want him to be happy etc....

Yes, the way Maynard quickly walked-back the “he’s not going anywhere” comment was notable and a bit concerning. Hubris giving way to a more sober assessment?

You'd have to think/hope there have been discussions taking place? Leaving negotiations until the end of the year is cutting things tight and invites rival offers. Free agency period opens up on the Friday after the GF...
JDG will be in Bali by then…with his phone switched off, hence no chance of any F.A deals…he will stay.

And just like that Jordy is in the Top 20 in the coaches' voting, having played 15 out of 20 games.

Do the moral crusaders still want him out?

I'm still quite traumatised by the sight of Remy lolling around the dancefloor.

So yes, De Goey Be Gone!

Totally agree with this, but also don't think there is any doubt he feels let down by the Club's response after his being-persecuted-by-the-media statement. He can probably separate football department from Club board and management, but having concern about how they respond next time may well make him think a little about the grass being greener elsewhere
