This!
I was in the pocket last night and Acers was busting a** to get back there, especially in the first quarters when we were getting pounded. He spoiled 2 out of bounds and got back to even numbers, plus ran hard to provide outlets.
I don’t know of another winger in the game that offers so much defensively. Yep doesn’t have a laser like Whitfeild but I’d rather be getting this out of my winger.
He's a long way from irreplaceable and we do have emerging players on the list, but I still think a 3 year deal with the third subject to a trigger clause is a good option. He could be outside our 22 at that point and a trade could be best for both parties. But next year he is our best option.

If Meek doesn't request a trade to another AFL club for consistent games ill be baffled, would automatically be the best ruckman at 10 other clubs.
Very competitive 2nd ruck.
I would prefer to keep him if we loose lobb and get him to cop out for Darcy when working on his forward game.
Keep our bucks and draft capital and leave Jackson at Melbourne..

Buying a house is a sign of commitment, especially for a second year player (he bought it end of last year iirc?). Obviously not always meaning they're gonna stay, but it's generally a good indication they're setteld.

Hill scenario was interesting, because building a house is definitely more of a commitment. FWIW Hill moving wasn't entirely because of money. And it wasn't because his partner was 'homesick'. There was something else behind it lol.
You have my attention.......?

Griff was definitely off tonight. Mentally checked out because he knows he's not going to be here next season? So many jumps at marks he miss timed and would always find himself behind his player in the fwd line.
Imagine thinking a player doesn't care during a finals game because he has possible "checked out because he wont be there next year"
Don't you think he would still want a premiership?
I still holding hope that he's changed his mind and wants to stay at the Dees. Same with Lobb here even if just for next year. We're a far better side that way.
Lobb is gone already bought a house in Yarraville
How ******* good is he? Was saying to a couple of mates last night, he’s going to be the best natural goal kicker we’ve ever had. The dude just has so much actual forward craft, it’s so good to watch
How bad is it that basic forward movement impresses us so much? I've been saying we need an actual leading forward for years, Cant wait to watch nev for the next 10+ years

Tongue in cheek mate. I like to talk a lot of shit.

And Jackson's bought a house in Perth but his family are living there. Lobb's house in VIC will still be inhabited by his gf even if he has to stay over perth for another year. It's not like it's going to go to waste.

When Walters was doing an interview straight after the win, JL walked on the ground to the players and the first to greet him with a big embrace was Serong. Was the difference last night. Next captain of Freo imo
I agree!! Serong for Captain over Brayshaw!!! Natural leader

Crowden 38 touches and a goal. Iv said it before in this thread but there aren't many under 24 year olds going around getting his combination of possesions, goals and good long kicking. I would love to hold on to him for another season. Mundy going, fyfe might be cooked, Tucker probably going, Erasmus and Johnson will still be teenagers. Crowden might shine next season.
