Could Tabs come in and Amiss stay in the team?
Eg. Tabs for Logue, Tabs for Chappy (with Logue going back). Tabs for Acres (with Chappy playing wing and Logue going back).
Don't shoot me here.....just suggestions.
I absolutely agree with you on Young - he is an incredible defender and should not be moved from there. With Chappy I am less certain. For whatever reason, I don't think he has been quite as good this year and not sure his best position is on a half back flank.More of a general comment but I don't get the people who want Chapman or Young moved out of defence.
Chapman had six intercepts against the Bulldogs and 27 disposals at 93.6% disposal efficiency. Young had seven intercepts. Having players on our half-back flank who can win intercept marks (helped out by a small forward brigade forcing the opposition to make hack kicks out of defence,) have the vision to see the opportunity to hurt the opponent on the counterattack and skill to make the play is a great resource to have.

In fairness to everybody the "journos" wouldn't have watched anything..I must have watched a different game to the journalists as they are saying Tabs had a "standout game" and "pushing hard for recall". He was no better than Treacy or Sturt and looked really rusty imo.
Chappy has been less consistent (I presume due to injury,) but his best games are as good as any.
Based on the Peel game I'd be taking Erasmus. So after 13 pages it seems we're not having any changes.
Do we leave Bailey as sub or consider Fyfe/Erasmus??
I cant wait to watch Ras play every game next year with Mundy retiring. He's already starting to pretty much take the piss out of WAFL Going to be an absolute beast with another pre-seasonBased on the Peel game I'd be taking Erasmus.
I think what he was getting at is that 1 on 1 defending is not Chappy's strong point, and maybe he'd be even better on a wing or something like that.
Acres was very, very good against Bulldogs.
Heaps of defensive running to help out the backline
Acres used his body to win contests on the weekend which was crucial at times allowing us to rebound the ball. People are underestimating the influence he has on our games and I hope the club does a backflip. The only thing Henry brings to the team are effective kicks into the forwardline and into the centre to setup plays. We will get that from Johnson anyway.Yeah I think we can cover him offensively with Henry if he leaves but not on the defensive side. His size allows him to get back and get in the way.
Every single year the teams that lose the qualifying finals are talked about as on a downward path against the rampaging elimination final teams riding their momentum.
Almost every year the top four side wins the semi final. We weren't far off being that top four side though.
Since the year 2000 (the intro of the current final 8 system) there have been 44 semi-finals, losing qualifying final teams have lost 9 times to winning elimination final teams.
2001 - 3rd placed Port lost to 2nd placed Brisbane. They then played 6th placed Hawks who won by 3 points.
2007 - 3rd placed Eagles lost to 2nd placed Port. They then played 6th placed Collingwood who won by 19 points.
2014 - 3rd placed Geelong lost to 2nd placed Hawks. They then played 6th placed North Melbourne who won by 6 points. AND
4th placed Fremantle lost to 1st placed Sydney. We then played 5th placed Port who won by 22 points.
2015 - 4th placed Sydney lost to 1st placed Freo. They then played 8th placed North who won by 26 points.
2016 - 3rd placed Hawks lost to 2nd placed Geelong. They then played 7th placed Bulldogs who won by 23 points.
2018 - 4th placed Hawks lost to 1st placed Richmond. They then played 5th placed Melbounre who won by 33 points.
2019 - 2nd placed Brisbane lost to 3rd placed Richmond. They then played 6th placed GWS who won by 3 points.
2021 - 4th placed Brisbane lost to 1st placed Melbourne. They then played 5th placed Bulldogs who won by 1 point.
So while its not that common over 22 years, over the last 8 years its pretty much one per year.
Better finals series as well I reckon, anecdotallyBye-bye advantage: Is the week off a help or hindrance for top four?
Results suggest the pre-finals bye has leveled the playing fieldwww.afl.com.au
"The numbers are indisputable that the pre-finals bye, used from 2016 to 2020 and again this season, gives teams from fifth to eighth a better chance of success."
Who takes Nick Daicos?
Is Walker up to the task?
I’d look at a tagging role with Aish.
* me we have had enough warnings about him now - if Daicos gets 35 touches on Saturday I’ll spew.
Elliot is another difficult matchup. Not convinced Ryan has the pace to mark him
It’ll be close mate , all coll games are coz they play with a real defensive bias which not only makes it difficult for the opponent to score generally not wide open for themselves to kick cricket scores either To give you a bit of confidence , coll have stumbled previous v interstate oppo at the MCG GWS in 19 and PA few years before that ,,,good luck you guys have a good little emerging side with mighty slick midfieldI have a feeling that this game, both games actually, will be a blowout.
I just hope we are not on the wrong end of it. While the Pies finished above us, their percentage would indicate that things have gone their way quite a bit in terms of close wins. If Freo are at their best they can win this.
