Don’t think anyone was expecting Naitanui to get a 2 year deal so I get why some might be unhappy about it

A contract for next year was a formality but given his injury history there’s no guarantees he can return to his 2020/21 form or close to it so on face value another year is an unnecessary risk

How unnecessary depends on the details. Was a second year given to spread the cost out over those 2 years? Is the second year contingent on any trigger clauses? Is there a coaching component?

In any case, given our ruck stocks I don’t think a 2 year deal for Naitanui is something to lose sleep over

Nicnat is only one year removed from being AA.

It's not out of the realms of possibility that he can get fit, over any niggling injuries, and back to somewhere close to his 2021 form. That puts him in the top handful of ruckmen in the league.
Yep and Simmo is going to sprinkle some fairy dust out of his ass and we will make the top 4.

It amazes me when people can’t see a player is cooked.
Appreciate some of your draft insights but you wont win many friends bagging Nic on here. I still hold out hope he can come back in better condition and contribute. Even if its not at AA B&F level. Afterall he was interrupted for 12 weeks with a Knee injury last season.
A 2 year contract was a bit of a surprise rather than 1 but I'm glad I get to see him play for a couple more seasons.

I’m here until you’re back in the 8.

Has it been confirmed he got a 2 year deal as yet?

I've read some speculation by Hagdorn, that's about it.

Yep

Best he doesn't outstay his welcome.

That’s not official but it’s Duffield who’s normally reliable on these sort of things

Probably as close to official confirmation as we’ll get.

Duffield on his podcast yesterday reckons this shows West Coast a) Have no interest in Meek and b) Will probably have a crack at English in 2 years.

Would think that keeping Nic Nat still means we need a competent back up to to play with him and be capable of being the number 1 when his misses. We can’t rely on him playing 40+ games in the next two years.

Perhaps they just accept we will be average and are willing to develop Bailey and Jamieson in that time. In two years' time, they are either ready or delisted.

Also i’m very reluctant to put my eggs in the English basket given he isn’t actually any good at actual ruck work
